North to the Future

March 27, 1964

The Four Seasons Apartment Building, the first lift slab structure built in Alaska.

5 extremely long minutes of severe shaking..I remember watching the building fall down. When the shaking stopped, my mom appeared out the back door. That, I will never forget.

I did not watch the Four Seasons fall, I watched the precast panels fall of the side of JC Penney, crushing cars, filling D Street. The asphalt rolled like waves. It was a fucking long 5 minutes.

57 years ago right now, the power was out. We had a nice fire in the fireplace. The neighbors from across the street were camped in our living room. Pork chops had been cooked on a grill in the fireplace for dinner. The kitchen was cleaned up as all the cupboards had emptied onto the floor. The worst part of that was the bottle of Wesson oil that hit the floor and broke.

I think I see an investment opportunity in Alaska. Is it high food cost or high demand for hangover food? What's hangover comfort food anyway? Guess I need to research my possible investment a bit more.

Come visit. It's a bargain getting a hangover in Illinois.

*chuckle*

I have a semi-domesticated herd of deer.
They fear nothing and laugh at the dachshunds...

We had some hunters out last year and they couldn't find them.
I see them two to three times a week grazing on the grass up on the hill.
