I'm just curious. I live near Houston, but I have a house in north Louisiana where I spend quite a bit of time. I've been on Lit for a long time and have never seen anyone mention that they're from the ARK/LA area.

This isn't a "wanna meet" thread, so guys and ladies, speak up. I'm just curious if anyone at Lit is from that part of the country.

Texan..........

Ya know I was wondering the same thing just now. I'm not from either, but currently living in LA.

Hiya Texan, nice to meet ya. :)

dixi

I live just north of Houston...but was born in northeast La. and travel back there seveal times a year.

Hello

Hello dixiecritter and IceyFire, it's nice to meet the both of you.

Fire, I was born in Ruston, LA; but also live just north of Houston, in the huge metropolis of Tomball. I still have a house and land in Union Parish. With the weather as nice as it is right now, I'm thinking of going up there pretty soon to spend some time in the woods. Unfortunately, I have to leave next weekend for a week in Switzerland. (I know I'll get no sympathy, but I've been traveling for so many years, the fun's not there anymore.)

dixie, what part of Louisiana do you live in? I know several people at Lit who are from south Louisiana, but I've never met anyone from northern LA.

I actually thought this thread was going to slip into oblivion without a reply, so thanks to both of y'all.

Nice to meet you Texan.
Sorry, no sympathy from me about the traveling..I would gladly take your place. Just kidding, as I know it must get tiring if you do it all the time.
I was born in Winnsboro,La.. I have heard of Ruston, though at the moment I am not sure just where it is.
It would be a perfect time for visiting over there.I hope I get to go home for at least a day or two during the upcoming holiday season to visit my family.
I live in the small town of Trinity, Texas. Up in the deep piney woods area.

Hope you can enjoy your upcoming trip. Be safe.

Texan, I live in central Louisiana. I've been to Ruston a couple of times tho. My hubby is military, so we've lived in several states now.

Icey*fire, hi there nice to meet you too.

I know where Winnsboro is. Just head north on Hwy 167 from Winnsboro and you can't miss it.

I also know where Trinity is. My in-laws have a cattle farm near Lovelady, so I go through Trinity from time to time. I can't say I've found much reason to stop there, other than a little catfish restaurant on the side of the highway just before you get to the river bottom. I can't remember the name, but the food was excellent.

Well, when the Houston group of Lit folks has their next get-together, I hope you can make it down. Everybody says they don't know what to expect when people from this board get together. I can tell you that there's a lot of fun, but everyone keeps their clothes on. I guess people are afraid that there's going to be an orgy or something. If they had one of those, I wasn't invited. "sigh" j/k

Just popping in to say Hi, Texan.

I haven't seen you around recently, hope everything is going well.

dixiecritter, I'm sure there are military facilities all over Louisiana, but Fort Polk is the only base that comes to mind.

You would have quite a drive to make it to a Lit-together, but it might be worth the trip. Of course, husbands are welcome too. I wish him well, especially if he's involved in the Iraq conflict.

Imi lives in Florida, but happened to be in Houston when we had our second gathering and is now an honarary Lit-Texan, a status she seems to wear with pride.

Well, hello morninggirl... It HAS been awhile. Real-life become a little too real sometimes. I come and go on Lit. Sometimes, I just read a few threads and decide it's just not worth getting in the middle of the mess.

It's strange running into you over here in the playground. Hell, it's strange for me to just be here. Someplace started a thread called "Houston RollCall" or something like that. She PM'd me to tell me to come to the playground to sign in. I've noticed that if I can stay out of those never-ending threads, this place is ok.

I hope all is well with you.

I had my own real-life roadblocks for a couple of months. When i returned, i was mainly lurking. I did get to go to the NC Litogether and saw some of the people i met in Atlanta again.

There are a couple of threads here that i've been posting to. They're more community threads with people i've met and now consider friends. Most of the rest of my time at Lit is reading, shaking my head, and moving on.

I REALLY understand the "shaking my head" comment.

Yes Fort Polk, not real close to much of anything really. My hubby is deployed at the moment to Iraq, we expect his unit to return in about March '04. Maybe someday I can convince him for us to go to a Lit-together.... Only time will tell. :)

I suppose we could be considered honarary Texans too, 7 of our 15 years of marriage was spent in Texas at both Fort Hood and Fort Bliss, and one son was born at Fort Hood. Does that count? lol.

Northwest Louisiana here

Hi - I've been so busy reading the stories *fanning myself* that I haven't ventured much into this forum before. Hi everyone! Near Shreveport here.
