No War

There is a risk of terrorist attacks anyway. Better to go in and start getting rid of those leaders who support the terrorists.

That will be several years or more of wars to fight. North Korea, Iran, Syria, Libya and whatever names people care to enter here.

Time to bring back the draft so more Americans can participate.

Out of all the member of Congress, only one Democratic senator from South Dakota has a son serving overseas. And that senator was called a coward who didn't care about American security by his opponent last time.

One has to wonder why all these chickenhawks are still home and not overseas doing their duty.

We have done just as much business as France and Germany with Iraq. We are fixing to help Russia build a pipeline. We have sold Iraq chem. materials just like other nations have helped Saddam in numerous ways. The only reason we won't hear about our own dirty laundry is because we live here. So that is three Nations that you bring up out of some two hundred plus countries in the UN. Why do we have only Spain and England wanting to help us. Do all the others have something to hide also.

Wait. You're seriously telling me that the US media would hesitate to report US companies' dealings with Iraq? You can bet your paycheck that if there were any "smoking gun", especially one that totaled 60 bilion dollars or more, the press would be all over it with both feet. I guarantee you that the US does not have as much money tied up in current oil contracts with Iraq than the three I mentioned. Look it up, as they say. I'll even tell you why that's so (and this has been reported as well). Hussein knew that he'd need some sort of hedge against the sort of thing the US and our allies are doing right now. What he had to offer was cash, so that's just what he did. Now three members of the Security Council have a boatload of money to lose is Hussein falls. It was a rather smart move on his part.

And before you mention Iraq as the great source for US oil, I'll tell you right now that they rank #9 out of all the places we get our oil. We buy more from Canada (1), Mexico (2), Russia (3), and Venezuela (4).

As for the allies question, let me point out a couple things you may have overlooked. Eighteen current NATO nations stand in support of the US (which includes Italy, the UK, Spain, and most of the EAstern European nations) as does Australia, for a total of approximately 35-45 countries. Those are the ones which have publicly come out in support or (as in the case of Czechoslovakia and the UK) have personnel in the area ready to assist. That's fair support - more than supported the US action in Kosovo, for instance (which, BTW France and Russia both opposed).

Come on. You have to do some amount of homework before you can have an informed opinion!

Hey, that's very close to what a number of the psychological reprorts on Bush say!

War is inevitable; Saddam never made any serious attempt to comply, always thinking he could get away with just enough to confuse and appease, and Bush probably wanted this excuse to take him out. Between the two was a deep chasm that could not be crossed - mostly because Saddam didn't know how; he is like a little spoiled kid that thinks he can get away with his bad behavior because he has yet to be truly disciplined.

That and Saddam's order of assassination on the first Bush. I'd be pissed, too, if someone tried to kill my daddy.

Oh God! What is coming afterwards doesn't bear thinking about!

That's why war with Iraq would be such a blunder.

Countries compliant wih that ruling will be targeted by terrorists in a way they never dreamed of.

I really wonder if the Bush regime think they're invincible. If that's the case - they're in for a helluva shock.....IF they go to war.

Ok, fear and paranoia. This is what the terrorists want to happen to us.
It's not as if we are not already targeted, right?
Bush regime...well, that pretty much states your political views and to me, suggests "agenda".

A couple solutions

"If I were the President...I would first apologize to all the widows and orphans, the tortured and the impoverished, and all the millions of other victims of American imperialism. Then...I would announce that America's global interventions had come to an end. I would then reduce the military budget by at least 90 percent and I would use the savings to pay the reparations to our victims and to increase social services." -- William Blum, author of "Rogue State: A Guide to the World's Only Superpower"

His book should've been titled, "How to get rolled over".

"In a situation like this, of course you identify with everyone who's suffering. [But we must also think about] the terrorists who are creating such horrible future lives for themselves because of the negativity of this karma. It's all of our jobs to keep our minds as expansive as possible. If you can see [the terrorists] as a relative who's dangerously sick and we have to give them medicine, and the medicine is love and compassion. There's nothing better." -- Richard Gere

<insert Richard Gere joke here>

"Melt their weapons, melt their hearts, melt their anger with love." -- Shirley MacLaine on her anti-terrorism policy

It sounds good doesn't it?

It is academic now. Sadamn has less than 72 hours to get out of Dodge. Y’all tried but no one was listening too you.
