Gosling, take a nice hot shower, I would give you a massage if I could and make your wings better.

ps.......Hi Lauren.

ARGH!!!!

Okay, I'm sitting her trying not to pull my hair out. I don't even know if I want advice or just a kind word. I'll start this by saying I have a 17 year old daughter.

What do you do, when she just screams and cries and just decides that you are the worst person on the face of the Earth.

If you tell her what to do you're running her life, If you don't, she's the kid and your not being a parent. You can't win, all you can do is get screamed at.

Part of me wants to ground her for life, and part of me can't believe how bad hearing those things hurts. I know she doesn't really mean it. She's done it before and she'll probably do it again.

I just needed to yell a little about it, so that's what I'm doing.

Somehow, we will all keep our sanity (what we have of it.) but I'll tell you it isn't easy.

For any of you who have teenagers out there, I'm sure you know what I mean.

Anyway, just needed to get this off my chest a little, and honestly just writing this helps.

bridge-

Teenagers are the single most emotional group on the planet and well the sorrowful truth is that any type of conversation with them when "their world is falling apart" or whatever is going to end with you as the villain. Let her cry it out, then come back and try to be sympathetic, be condescending, but not overtly so. If she loves and trusts you, she'll likely spill what's really bothering her and what not or she might not. Also, remember that teenagers are unfortunately ultra-secretive as well (a reaction to society's belief that every failing or aberrations of theirs will ruin them forever).

On whole, don't let it get to you too bad and good luck. Solving your child's problems can seem like walking in a mine field sometimes, but remember that just by listening when they're ready to talk you solve 95% of their problems and though they may scream at times, if they talk to you at all, then they love you.

All right, that's all I'm going to say before I start sounding like Dr. Spock or one of those similar psychologist bastards.

What's wrong sweetness?

How nice are you? You've had a rough day as well and you're worried about me? Let's not talk about it and just get drunk.

Why do these things happen? I don't know. Just pour me a shot.

I'd love to be getting drunk with you. Personally I'm on my third glass of wine. It won't get me drunk, but it takes the edge off. I'm going to wait here another two minutes or so, then I'm going to head off to bed. If you change your mind and want to talk, go ahead and I'll stay around. If I don't hear from you I'll talk to you sometime tomorrow.

Either way, let me know how your doing. You can either post here, or PM me.

All the best to you,
Mike

How did you know I love tulips? I've planted about 500 along the walk in my front yard.

Lucky guess? I always prescribe tulips for bad days. :rose:

for Mike...

It's a useless piece of advice, but this too shall pass.

My daughter will be 24 in October, and I remember the screaming and the tears very well. At some point, I learned when she screamed that she hated me, to answer calmly, "I still love you," and then walk away. It gets better, I promise.

for Lucky...

I'm sorry, hon. Wish there was something I could do to make things a little better for you. Will a virtual hug help at all?
