Goggling

Not to mention the vodka goggles.....

tequila googles - we won't go there.

Heh...I have a story about drinking goggles...

Freshman year of college, the scholarship program I was on put all of the male students (and some of the female ones) in a "dorm" that was actually a series of townhomes. You were either assigned to one of the corner, large units...with 7 rooms and, usually, the RA...or else a 3 room unit where two rooms shared a bath upstairs, and the other one was just past the public lobby/study area.

As the lobby area was a public place, there wasn't a curfew for when the opposite sex had to leave, so several units had had their residents go out and equip the instutional furniture with soft blankets and throw pillows...and some even hit the cheap bins at the carpet store in town.

Me, my roommate, and the two guys we shared upstairs with went out to a party sometime in the first month or so we were on campus. I'd had to be somewhere the next morning...class, or work, or play rehearsal...I forget where, so I got up early and went to breakfast.

I start to come down like usual, but then slowed my step on the stairs as I realize that someone from upstairs is sleeping on the lobby floor...with company that they obviously brought home from the party. I smiled to my self, but left and took care of things and came back to the room just before lunchtime.

In my room, my roommate and suitemate both begin bouncing questions off me.
"When did you leave?"
"Did you see who was downstairs?"
"Have you mentioned this to anyone today?"
and so on...

"What's this all about? All I saw was a very nice head of blond hair lying against your chest and shoulder," I said.

My suitemate then proceeds to let me know who it was, and tell me in no uncertain terms, that if I ever saw him wearing beer goggles and she was to come around him, I was to do anything I could to prevent him leaving with her *ever* again.....

Don't forget the quest for incredible sex that goes along with that drunken stupor.

Here, here....*seconding the motion...or thirding, whatever*

Now, where's that AAA card? Need a Tripdych for this I can see....
<g><wink>

Question is, which way to begin the journey?

We've been married almost 20 years and frankly I'm about sick and tired of it. But, I have a 17 year old daughter. My folks divorced when I was 12 and I swore I wouldn't do that to my kid.

Don't really know why I'm writing this, guess I just had to vent somewhere.

Hey, what else do you have us for, right? If you can't vent to online folks who listen to everything else you have to say, then who *can* you vent to?

I like your sentiment about wanting to keep the structure of a family for the kid. But, just my thoughts now, I would say that 1) 17 prolly isn't a kid, esp not when it comes to handling their parents' divorce the same way a 12-year old would, 2) Just tell yourself that 18 isn't that far off, and 3) I have heard it said that keeping a marriage going "for the kids" is one of the worse reasons.

Again, just some thoughts...I have no experience with this at all. I'm on my first marriage. My folks were married in '63 and still are. I had, maybe, three friends all the way through school and into college who's parents were split. It just wasn't something that prevalent 20-30 years ago.

Honestly, tho -- do drinking goggles really, really make difference?

You know sometimes life just SUCKS!!!

Tomorrow morning my family and I are supposed to go on a road trip to visit my folks in NJ. I even bought tickets to The Producers in NY and reserved a hotel room there for a night because my wife loves the city.

Last night, we're driving around, and my wife asks me if I know what she's really looking forward to on this trip. When I said no, she said "Going Home".

I could understand it if it was just one time, but I swear this woman has become convinced we should never have any fun in life. Any time we start to plan something, from a trip to Disney World, down to just a little outing, she comes up with reasons not to go.

So now we're going on a trip, so that we can fight the entire time.

We've been married almost 20 years and frankly I'm about sick and tired of it. But, I have a 17 year old daughter. My folks divorced when I was 12 and I swore I wouldn't do that to my kid.

I think she may be reaching out for a little affection, perhaps a little attention?

I would never assume to know what you are going through in your marriage - but I have a question. Is the only attention you give, i.e. talking, yelling... only when you are fighting?

Sometimes we become a little too used to one another and we forget what we had.

What about going away with just the two of you? A romantic dinner? You are going on vacation, but you are still with people - your family and your daughter.

lol I think I'm taking a half day tomorrow because these damn people are on my last nerve already

In-laws can be a mixed blessing. My mom-in-law loved me right to death, my dad-in-law took twelve years to decide maybe it was okay what we had together. Even though he liked the granddaughter immediately.:D

I was seriously considering splitting when I had almost thirty years in the marriage, but I decided to take it on again with fewer expectations. We're pretty tight again. She's a terrific lady.

There are some things she will never get, though. That's her. Better or worse, there she is. And she's really one of the world's finest humans. Wouldn't even trade her for Lauren! Cross my heart!

I'm not the easiest mofo to live with, myself, but she overlooks that pretty well.

cantdog

lol I'm almost the boss and admit to being in a fucking terrible mood. However you'd think since I came in and said "I'm in a fucking terrible mood" that the employees would try to lay low and not act a damn fool. If that's what you thought though let me assure you that you have another think coming.

Not that I've ever seen...at best, being tipsy or drunk makes me overlook obvious things...in look, stance, words, and other little details...that would normally give me pause in pursuing a given individual.

Now, being stoned, on the other hand, that's something else entirely...<g>

I find that when I am tipsy or drunk I tend to be a bit more outgoing. I find that I feel sexy -- not so much finding someone else sexier.

I think being stoned would make me just want to sit on a chair and munch down on some chips!
:D

I was late for the cinema. They close as early as 9. I'll have to pick those tickets up tomorrow - and they better not give my HP-tickets to someone else!!!

Yeah, you might ought to.....don't want passersby to drop dead of a heartattack - you're too gorgeous for mere mortals.

On a brighter note, I went to see M at the hospital today. Her daughter is soooooooooooo cute! Much cuter and much more regular than babies normally are! Her first child, the boy, was wrinkled and red and had some kind of yellow rash, and I had to struggle to find something nice to say other than "Yep...that's a baby, allright. I can tell from the size."

This child was regular and cute and chubby and pink, and I held her for almost an hour, and she slept really hard in my lap, and we can't wait to go shopping for girly clothes, and I'm going to sew clothes for her, and make her a baby quilt, and also, I'm going to fix a little present for her older brother, so that he won't feel left out - I'll call it a gift to celebrate that he's now a Big Brother.

I bought the baby a pink top with flowers on it, and a pair of panties with lacey frills on the buttock - she's gonna look really cute in those!
