My understanding (having never participated) is that, at least from a femdom perspective, it's a matter of having it controlled. I don't think I'd do it on my own....don't understand the benefit.

I think that this is like Dry January where a person doesn’t drink alcohol for the entire month.

I think for some, it is a challenge that they need to participate in to feel like they accomplished something.
