The Obama government announced that there was no inflation for the second consecutive year. Therefore, senior citizens will not receive a COLA increase in their social security checks for the second year in a row. No inflation at all for two years. Isn't that amazing?

Inflation, or lack thereof, is a two-edged sword.

Those of us who rely on investments HOPE for inflation. We own stuff rather than cash, and hope that it increases in value. On the other hand, those of us who hoard cash rather than stuff, hope for NO inflation, so that it retains value.

Neither approach is inherently better or worse than the other. The only winning plan is to guess correctly what will occur, inflation-wise. Unfortunately, that's a tough nut to crack.

I remember thinking (and saying/posting) at the time that both Bush and Gore were dumb to want to pick that time to run for president--the economy was already on its way down the toilet--and that wasn't the fault of anyone's political administration.

In terms of political administrations, though, you really have to be a dummy (and I sort of think you are) not to see that the Obama administration isn't doing better with what they were dealt than the Bush administration did. Obama's principle failure has been to try to compromise and footdragging rather than cutting and burning the typical Republican supergrowth of national government (which is always very amusing in the claim that it's Democrats, not Republicans, who have grown national government and expenditures and deficits the most--when the statistical truth, sense you like to claim that speaks to you, is just the opposite).
