I got my nipple pierced last Sunday and I'm wondering what everyone elses experiences have been with healing, if it got infected or not and how you cleaned/treated it....So far I love it and can't wait to play with it, but I'm terrified of it getting infected! What's your experience?

I've had mine for a little over two years. The first 48 hours I kept it clean with soft soap, twice a day. And then after that I just kept it clean with normal showering. I'd use a q-tip and warm water during the day to remove crusties. No infections at all, no problems. Just keep it clean but don't overdo it.

Curious to why... why do people get a nipple pierced... or piercing in the vagina area

Did your piercer not give you specific instructions for aftercare?

Either way, here are some good instructions and thoughts on infection and such. At least they are consistent with everything else I've read and heard from experienced piercers and piercees.

It seems like one of the more critical pieces of advice I've heard, apart from not touching it and keeping it clean in general, is the frequent warm sea salt soaks.

Secondly, healing times vary greatly and some people simply reject piercings, on certain parts, or in general. So, be patient, take really good care of it (and yourself overall) and hope for the best. :)

thanks for posting this, I'm planning on getting mine done soon!

how is it with wearing a bra? painful at all?[ i mean more than you would expect, pain is inevitable when you shove needles through dangly bits ] did you need to wear a bandage over it/them at any point?

be careful with it for the first month, and wear a wireless bra or sports bra to bed. aaand make sure you clean it really well with a little anti bacterial soap like Dial once a day or so (i like to do it in the shower)

I have had really good luck with dial anti bacterial soap in the shower and using Q-tips with bactine spray after. The Bactine also contains lidocaine which helps to numb them and make you more comfortable...

bactine and too much soap is really bad for fresh piercings. the bactine will dry it out and too much soap can irritate it. the best is to do sea salt soaks. just get a dixie cup and put some warm water and natural sea salt it it, and let it soak 2x a day.

Also im not saying you shouldnt clean it with soap, just when your n the shower and make sure it gets risned really well.

I have mine done and am really good friends with my piercers/tattoo artists.

I don't have nipple piercings but do have a clitoral hood piercing. I did it because I thought it looked sexy and it was a thrill. I like to have something that's kind of "secret". It also is sexy to touch it and play with it and it feels good!

I've had my nipples done plenty of times. The above advice is spot on with the sea salt water soaks. The dixie cup filled with a couple of grinds of sea salt and lukewarm water twice a day or when it gets irritated is good. The only thing about wearing a bra to bed is to make sure that the piercing is healing properly and exposed to air.

Be aware that your body may reject the piercing, mine did a few times. The biggest thing...if it does get infected, or it starts to feel that way DO NOT take it out. Leave it in until it heals. Talk to your piercer if it acts up but PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't take it out. If the hole closes, which it can do in matter of minutes to hours, it could close the infection in there.

The best thing to do...if you have a question about how it's feeling...CALL your shop. They should be able to answer any question, and they've heard it all, believe me!

Good luck. Oh, and keep the saliva away from it for at least two weeks. If you can. :D

Well so far, so good. I'm paranoid about infection, but it seems to be healing quite nicely.

I've been wearing a padded-ish bra (I'm a 38DDD so its hard to get away with too much padding) and use a gauze pad over the nipple, not taped, but I place it in between my bra and nipple. My bra doesn't bother it much at all...I can sleep on my stomach no problem and I bumped into something kinda hard today with no pain either.

The actual piercing experience wasn't bad at all. It was a little pinch then it was over. I like rough nipple play, so it didn't feel any different than my hubby pinching my nipple hard, lol.

I love it and can't wait for it to be healed. Part of me is thinking about going back and getting the other pierced, but I'm waiting to see how this one turns out.

I say go for it! :)

Thank you so much for the advice! I'm just worried about infection, but I've been keeping it clean and doing a salt soak 1x a day...So far so good!

I love it! The only hard part is keeping hubby away from it! :)

For me it was something I've always wanted to get done. My nipples are incredibly sensitive and its a big turn on to have them played with, so I figured why not get one pierced and see what happens!

It's also my little secret. I love being able to feel the piercing when I move when at work and talking to people who have absolutely no idea that its there. Its quite exciting to be honest. And if I want someone in my life (other than hubby) to know about it, I can tell them...

Just a general....

....Thank you to all that replied! I read everyones advice and am putting it to good use...Watch for pics to be posted on the pic thread within the next few days ;-););)

I am thinking about getting mine done as well...I think I have quized every female friend of mine that has them done...:D Hubby doesnt mind either way...

I had mine done a few years ago. I cleaned it with spectrojel when in the shower and that was it. I never soaked it in slat water but it does seem to be a credible idea, salt is a gentle antibacterial. I would wait most definetly at least a month before playing with it or having your partner play with it (maybe even longer because if its not perfectly healed and you irritate it the healing process starts all over. Overall I loved mine and never regretted it . But I had to take it off when I got pregnant to breastfeed my child. I Plan on getting redone at some point .

Everyone else has covered it, but another thing to know is you shouldn't use peroxide or alcohol because those can irritate it and make it sore. Saline can be used to clean it too instead of sea salts, you can buy it at a pharmacy where you find contact lens solution.

Well two weeks after getting my nipple pierced...I LOVE IT!

I'm healing quite nicely...And no pain at all. Its highly, highly sensitive, which I love...

...Anyone thinking about getting theirs done, I suggest it!!:devil:

Excellent news! :D

My gal has been thinking about getting hers done, which would be awesome in my books!

How long can you leave it out?

Once it has healed up, how long can you leave it out? Is it like an earing?
Just wondering!

No! Don't ever leave it out. It can close as fast as an hour. if not quicker than that. They make clear plastic spacers for it if you have to take metal out of your body, but don't leave the hole open for too long. It's not like the ear.

I've had my nipples pierced for about 2 weeks now, and I did it because its sexy and I have inverted nipples. After about a week, I thought my left one might be infected, so I went back to the shop to have it looked at. He said it wasn't, but to make sure, that I follow my cleansing with a sea salt soak. After the soak, i rotate them with bactine and let them air dry. it took a few days, but its definitely feeling better now. I'm happy I got them done, and I can't wait for my Master to play with them.

What is an inverted nipple? I've got an image of an outy type bellybutton-- but the opposite. I suppose that is an inny nipple? Anyone have a picture of an inverted nipple? I want to have it clear in my mind. BY the way, Tastychococakes, I hope they're feeling better and that you are enjoying Master playing with them.
