Nikki Haley

The flag issue is a non-factor. Who's going to take an opposing position on that for starters? Further those good ole boys flying that flag in their yards and on the pick ups see that flag as a symbol of anti big federalism, not as racist or pro-slavery. If Haley runs against the "deep state" they're going to vote for her.

It's a non-factor for most, but it is to quite a few Trump voters in the deep red parts of South Carolina. Haley owns bringing the flag down. I applaud her for it. There are those who don't and are still mad about it.

Alienate flag supporters at your own risk if you're running in a presidential primary here.

One more point as long as you insist on dragging race into everything. Jindal's ethnicity had nothing to do with his performance. It was all about recognition. Jindal didn't have national recognition and he was being defined by the press. He was handicapped right out of the starting gate.

Haley has received a LOT of prime time face time with her UN speeches. Unfiltered by the press and plenty of recognition. She wouldn't be starting out handicapped like Jindal was.

Yeah, she has had a lot of face time. South Carolina already knows her well though. Recognition won't be an issue for her. Her record as Governor won't be forgotten either. Dirty politics is a sport here. She has her enemies, and they will do their best to turn even the smallest segment of voters away from her. Just ask John McCain's family. Whisper campaigns are a grand tradition here.

Politics is the true blood sport. Jesus Christ himself couldn't run for public office without half of the population digging up, or making up, dirt on him. So it goes without saying that they'll all crawl out of the woodwork if she decides to run.

I had high hopes for the political future of Martha McSally. She has serious actual feminist cred and won as a Republican in highly progressive Tucson. She is not nearly as glib as she would need to be to be a politician. Kyrsten Sinema did not seem to me to be Senator material and she beat McSally.

Interesting lie, I hate Cinema a lot less than I hated the RINO John McCain that she replaced. She's actually voting pretty close to how she ran. I can respect that.

Had McSally one that seat she would have been the third pilot to occupy that seat. It remains to be seen whether McSally will be able to hold on to the other senate seat to which she was appointed.
