What's the best non-sex related dream you've ever had?

What's the most terrible nightmare to ever torment your sleep?

My worst dreams were a series. Nearly every night for weeks, I dreamed I was being chased by a man who was trying to kill me. I could not see his face, but I knew who it was.

Best non-sexual? Hard to recall. There have been so many and each was specific to timely situations.

The scariest?

OK, out comes the crazy.

I've had the 'falling' dreams and the wnating to run but can't dreams. All when I was younger.

By far the scariest dreams have been the pre-cognative dreams. They have been relatively rare and at first I didn't recognize them for what they were.

The first one I recognized happened many years ago. I dreamed I was getting in an airplane. I saw the tail number as I was boading the flight and the interior colors were extremely vivid. Dark Navy blue motif with red highlights. The seats were blue, the cheesy head towels were red, and the carpet was red and blue mottling. The interior of the airplane was HUGE. (I had never flown on a jumbo up to that time.)

We took off from Miami west to east over Biscayne bay. The aircraft was struggling to gain altitude. It struggled for a bit, then began to lose altitude.

We crashed in the bay. Relatively shallow water and I was able to escape by wading away from the crash.

End of dream.

A week later I had to fly to New York to visit with some researchers at Yale Univ. Hosp. A day trip, fly up in the morning and back on the 'red eye' that night. Eastrern Air Lines was in full swing at that time and had the most flights to and from New York, so that's the airline that was booked.

I arrived at the airport in the morning two days later and almost had a heart attack. We were flying up on one of the new 1011 Jumbos that Eastern had just taken delivery of. The tail number matched the one in my dreams and when I boarded the interior was an exact duplicate. If not for two others traveling with me, I would have exited the plane. But I thought it might be hard to explain my dream.

We took off west to east and I was 'white knuckled' from the time we rolled back. The plane took off without incident and we arrived in New York safe and sound. I dismissed the dream then and there.

A week later that very 1011 crashed in the everglades while making an approach to Miami, west to east. Relatively shallow water. Most of the passengers survived. There was even a TV movie about the event. I think Eddie Albert played the pilot.

Regardless, I've had several more since then. They are all characterized by their vividness and detail. I am always in the dream, but never in the real life event that follows, and it always follows.

They scare the shit out of me.

until i was in my twenties i had a recurring nightmare that came about every few months. it involved a vague "monster" similar to the worms in dune. i read a book on dreams and separate realities that said that if i killed the monster in the dream it would never return. i did and it hasn't. weird shit.

The best dream I've ever had involved someone that I loved.

Just laying in bed with him with his arms wrapped snugly around my shoulders and waist, his mouth kissing my forehead and the top of my hair.. just laying there talking. When I woke up the feeling of contentment, security and love carried over into the rest of my day.

The worse was dreaming that my child died. *shudder*

Best non sex dreams always involve me singing before a large audience. I almost said performing, but i know where you pervs would go with that!

;)

The most frightening nightmare happened not too long ago. I was watching Hannibal and fell asleep. (Imaigne that, that movie has put me to sleep all three times I rented it!)

Anyway, I fell asleep and began having an erotic dream wherein another litster was shaving my legs. But he was taking the skin as well. It was very vivid and didn't hurt, but my legs looked awful.

It frightened me as I was so mesmerized by the erotic nature of the act, that I didn't stop him

Hmm so today I finally bought the damn movie and maybe I can watch it in pieces so as not to fall sleep during it again!
:p

Best non-sexual...too tough to call, had a few good ones.

Scariest, I was 5 and still remember it to this day. I dreamt I was near a guilliotine and some one was being beheaded and when he was he came back as either a ghost or came back to life (never have been sure on that) and was still headless. I woke up then absoutely terrified and ran to my grandparent's room (we lived with them and their bedroom was closest).

I have this recurring nightmare that I'm on my way home from elementary school. It's snowing really hard and I can hear this odd mechanical sound coming from up the block. I follow it and see this big grinding machine in the middle of the street and all the kids from school are walking into it. Out of the other end come tiny, multiple versions of all the kids. They see me and start chasing me.

I run home and lose them. On the way upstairs to my apartment I look up and at the top of the stairs is Indiana Jones. He's got his bullwhip out and is threatening me with it. I back away but blocking my retreat is Snoopy, armed with a glass of orange juice. I'm trapped. If I go up Indy will get me but somehow I know that if I come into contact with Snoopy's glass of orange juice then something unspeakably horrible will happen. My only choice is to jump over the bannister. In the middle of the three story fall I wake up panicked. For some reason this is the scariest dream I've ever had. An evil Indy and a malevolent Snoopy. Go figure.

I dunno about best...I don't usually remember my dreams.

But the skurriest was when Tom & Jerry were chasin' me through this big ol' house. Scooby Doo was there, but I can't quite remember in what capacity. Haunts me to this day.

Last Night...

I remembering opening this thread yesterday thinking it was about Stephen King...then reading it and thinking...Ahh.. I rarely have nightmares and I really don't remember my dreams...

Then last night....

Anyone ever read The Stand?

There I stood working in a hospital morgue, processing bodies on a conveyer belt. Corpse after corpse rattling down the line. In the dream I knew there was a disease that was devasting the population to the tune of 99.4% of the population. I wasn't worried that I was going to die. Why should I? The star of the show never dies. This went on for quite awhile until I woke myself up with the thought. Damm this is gross and silly. The strangest thing is that in my dream I looked like Veronica Hamel, the tall leggy brunette from Hill Street Blues. The only thing we have in common is being brunette.

Pretty wierd how something you read during the day triggers a nightmare in the middle of the night...

When traveling to varous places I've never been in my dreams I find each of those among the best. But I have so many even in one night that it is tough to determine which is the best. Yes, Summery et al, I know I should be writing them down. The party dream the other night continued to this night...I understand the pledge/contract I was supposed to sign the other night but to make a video too?

The one where it is my ultimate dream, the one I want to see come true and it does just to a certain point and then disappears. I'd had worse as a child but to be quite honest I haven't had any since. When I moved into my house I woke up from a dream feeling like there was a hand on my lower back nudging me awake. It sorta freaked me for a bit as it was an unfamiliar place for me. But terrible nightmares? Just don't have them. I pretty much confront any fears head on...so they don't manifest as nightmares.

I don't know that I can accurately rank my best dream, because usually my dreams are pretty fucking sweet.

My worst though. My worst was bad. I dreamt that I was coming home from work, planning on making dinner with my wife. I get to the door, but it's open an inch or so. Not unusual, , cause the cats like to come in and out. But when I go to open the door, I know something's wrong. I push it open, and there's my wife, lying on the floor, pool of blood. She's been just about cut in half, chunks cut out of her body, all the rest covered in deep slices and such. Somehow, she's still alive. Coughing blood, making thin red tinged bubbles from her mouth. I rush over, and try to gather what I can of her in my arms, seeing her bloodshot eyes glaze over as death takes her.

Worst dream I've ever had. I woke up my whole house with my sleep screams and sleep crying. It was bad news.

my pre-cognative dreams are characterized by vivid colors, and textures. They also leave me exhausted. Luckilly, I don't have those much any more.

My best non-sex dream? Like I would remember.

The most frightening dream I have ever had was geometric. Like looking at an infinitely large checker board for hours, and moving closer and farther away from it so the lines get closer together and farther apart.

These dreams happen to me when I play tetris way too much.

its hard to say what my best or scariest dream is because I have multiple dreams almost every night. Maybe that means I have lotsa issues  (ponders...)

But what really annoys me is that for the last week I've had the same dream. The dream doesnt repeat each night, it starts off close to where it finished the previous night. And there is nothing important about the dream as far as I can see. I dont think I've ever had this happen to me before. Its just weird.
