The Quarterback Slide Rule

Once the quarterback crosses the line of scribbage, it's a runningback.

...no matter what number she's wearing.

There was a call in a game where there was a late hit against a QB who was sliding. Which game was this? It looked totally legitimate to me. IT would have ended a drive, but instead they got to continue. I believe it was a fairly critical game.

Hardy Nickerson against Pennington in the 3rd quarter. He dove over him to miss and grazed him.

I thought it was Pennington.

Damn, he's had a fucking great season. He's going to be one helluv an NFL quarterback.

Yep.

A future pro bowler easy.

I think if we looked at the season now, after the last few weeks, that Pennington just might be the MVP.

If you are talking just the last month... Hasselbank

One of my favorite draft memories. Everyone in Pittsburgh just assumed the Steelers would move up and draft Pennington... Instead they stayed put and drafted Troy Edwards 13th overall.

Great pick.

I think they oughta just get rid of the line of scribbage altogether.

I'd say that Steve McNair has a better chance to be a pro bowler and a league MVP, but based on the fact he's been ignored despite his work the last two seasons I'm thinking that Palmer kid from USC has a better chance to be an MVP before McNair is ever named.

A lot of that whole roughing the passer business is ignorant. You look at the QB funny and it's roughing the passer. Gawd.

The challenge... You get two per game. If you issue a challenge whether you win or lose the challenge it costs you one of them. I think you should be ale to keep it if you win the challenge.

Not that the refs still can call the right... ie. Atlanta did score a touchdown at the end of the half. How many teams did it affect when it lost that game?

Lets get a clear definition of pass interference. That call at the end of the Pats-Fins game was ridiculous.

And holding... when does it get called, when doesn't it. ie. The Broncos played their last full 10 games, 40 quaters without it once being called against their opponents....

The only time there should be a clear cut call of roughing the passer is only after the QB has thrown the ball and the defender has put a late hit on him... Other than that? Open game boys!

Coaches would abuse the challenge system then..

IMO there is no place in pro sports for video replay. Whatever happened to the human element of officiating? Yeah sure calls are blown every game.. but isn't that what adds to the entire experience?

It's no wonder NFL and NHL refs are so brutal now as compared back to the 80's.. they have video replay to use as a crutch.

speaking of jets vs packers, what is up with brett favre. he is throwing the ball all over the place, throwing interceptions. its like he is a differant player than the first half of the season. wouldn't be surprised if the packers lost at home in the first round way they're going...

Something about Farve and the last game of the regular season.

Last year it was him walking right into the arms of Michael Strahan..

Someone needs to tell Brett that giving away presents during the game is bad and wishing the opposing team a happy holiday after the game is good.

Spiking the ball to stop the clock

This used to be called intentional grounding,

totally lame...

Put flags on the little fags...

:D

But in reality, I don't see a lot of sliders on winning teams. Guys playing with broken bones, coming back from spinal bruises, with pins in their hands, you know, a REAL bunch of slackers.

The suckiest NFL rule has to be the one that should be there but isn't and that's the designated tackler for kickers :D !

:nana: :nana: :nana:

The worst rules in football are the ones dealing with defensive backs. Both the interference rules and the unneccessary roughness calls need to be revisited. It's getting to the point now where recievers call their own fouls. Just throw up your hands at the end of a play and you get a call. Let the defenders play defense!

the taunting penalty - gimme a break! What do you think gets teams fired up. Oh, i forgot, dont want to set a bad example...

I kinda liked the endzone celebration penalty...i HATED when the skins would all get in a big circle...how gay...i think it was the skins

I want stickum back.

Dropped passes and fumbles ruin the flow of the game.
