NFL On Kneeling Players' Protests: 'We Were Wrong,' Commissioner Says

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Friday the NFL admits that "we were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier and encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest."

The statement, made in a video over Twitter, comes a day after nearly 20 players called on the NFL to take a stronger stance amid a nationwide protest of police brutality against black people.

"We, the NFL, condemn racism and the systematic oppression of Black People. We, the NFL, admit we were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier and encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest. We, the NFL, believe Black Lives Matter," the NFL said.

The league's statement makes no reference to former San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has been the most visible protester within the NFL against police brutality and racial inequality in the United States.

The NFL is admitting they were wrong not to acknowledge the FBI report's definitive facts that white police officers are killing minorities, even when unarmed, at the rate of 10 to 1 v killing white people under the same circumstances. The FBI report also stated the rate is likely closer to 20 to 1 because local law enforcement often change the paperwork before reporting so as not to appear as racist.
The NFL is admitting they were wrong in not supporting appropriate changes to address the obvious racism within law enforcement.
They are admitting they were wrong to condemn those simply trying to bring attention to the problem and asking for it to be addressed; instead the NFL wrongfully gave in to bigoted white America who would rather turn a blind eye and refuse to admit the problem rather than face the truth.
The NFL is not giving in to protesters... the NFL was complicit ignoring the truth and gave in to those in white America who used lies trying to shirk responsibility and accountability.
The NFL now admits it made a grave mistake, asks for forgiveness, and will be a leader for change.

After decades of racism and bigotry, even George Wallace came to realize he was completely wrong and asked for forgiveness. German Nazis came realize they too were completely wrong... "we were lied to"... and many Germans even today are embarrassed that so much of their populace were duped. Look at Merkel... she's been using an excuse of COVID to not attend trump's G7... but she's also separately commented that she does not want Germany to be associated with American white supremacy and would rather not interfere with America's domestic politics. Israel and Jews on the other hand have no qualms whatsoever supporting America's white supremacy and interfering with America's domestic politics so long as Israel gets what it wants. Amazing how peoples have changed in just 75 years.
