The Bears did that after the Superbowl (86 or 87). I got the impression that American Football is a bit boring for the Brits. It's kind of an ebb & flow thing with all the play stoppage & timeouts...something you get used to after watching it all your life. Has that changed, or is this just the NFL trying (in vain) to expand their audience?matriarch said:Just been looking at the website for the New Wembley Stadium, which hosts the FA Cup Final today, and found this on their future programmes list.
Well, well, well....................

(1) Make sure you have a tailgate party: a small feast involving foods cooked on a hibachi or other small barbeque while out in the parking lot; it is a sign of great respect to sacrifice raw meat on the fire before entering into the stadium.
(2) If you paint your body with a color (excuse me, colour) make sure it is the colour of only one team, not half-and-half.
(3) No fighting. I know rowdy behavior is acceptable at your own football games, but American Football fans and players are peaceful folk and will be much dismayed if the fans start to riot.
I'm sure others will have additions to this list....

Don't forget that there must be substancial quantities of alcohol along with the food. The tailgating here consists mostly of burgers and brats. However, you can pretty much bbq anything...3113 said:I'd like to offer the Brits some advice for such events--American Football is, afterall, a game with a long and hallowed traditions and certain respectful rituals and behavior should be followed:

And we don't have cheerleaders. The evil Mc Caskey's got rid of our Honeybears when I was very little (right after one of the really hot ones posed for Playboy).![]()

There are cheerleaders.

This is a British Cheerleader:rgraham666 said:Uhm. Girls don't do much for me I'm afraid. I prefer women.
I think the Bears are the only NFL team that doesn't. The girls got paid nothing (about $100 a game), and like you say, did a great deal of charity work. Unfortunately, the team is family owned by uptight, rich idiots (the head of which is a 90 year-old woman who was offended by the cheerleaders). It is a miracle that we have actually made it to two superbowls in 40 years, considering the morons who are holding our city hostage.sweetsubsarahh said:Are you the only team that doesn't?
Besides being obvious eye candy, ours are very involved in the community and also host various types of charity fundraisers. They get a great deal of publicity during the season.

I kinda figured the Brits had that sacred tradition perfected...even if the beer is served warmThe_Fool said:Beer...

I dated a Charger Girl back in the '90s... She was very intelligent, could carry a conversation and just happened to be fairly hot and could dance.
No fair to make assumptions of that sort, Rob....
