Proposed by a political analyst on NPR this morning: by publicly disavowing Ahmad Chalabi, the CIA has boosted his image immeasurably, and given him a decent shot at being elected Prime Minister after the newly elected interim gov't has done whatever they do.
He suggests that Chalabi or another shrewd Iraqi leader could bring together the Shiite populations of neighboring countries, take pieces of bordering territory here and there, and in combination with Iran - and Iran's nuclear capacity - become the Oil Superpower.
