It's the same with surveys.


Besides, who ever said we were trying to make our stories realistic?

Once upon a time there was a guy who wasn't getting laid. Then he saw a girl he really fancied in the office. Ho hum. She was probably already taken anyway. Back to work.

Where's the fun in that?

Considering what we write about, do you think surveys like this are helpful to make your writing appear more realistic?

Gosh, Pierce, it's becoming difficult for me to know what's real or not in my life, or even what my real life is. A survey certainly isn't going to help translate reality into fiction, erotic or not.

I had my younger man a decade ago so the stats mean nothing to me, but my experience is, as the trite expression goes, forever.

I just wrote a story about a girl who has been a popsicle for 50 years, and planning for a just as wierd sequel. Realistic is not on my map right now

CNN is reporting a survey finding single women in their 40's & 50's are more open to dating younger men than ever before.

The report is full of interesting nuggets, like 2% of women think sex on the first date is OK, while 20% of the men do (and 80% of the men are lying in my opinion).

Also 42% of men in that age group have never married, versus 24% of the women.

Considering what we write about, do you think surveys like this are helpful to make your writing appear more realistic?

yep i'm all for the younger men and yep there's a lot of lying cows out there, add about 50 pc to the women on the first date figures hun as well as the 80 pc men, giggle

Actually, surveys like this make me realize I have a much better reality than I thought!!

One of the things I hate most about polls and surveys is that we rarely get to see the actual question they use to determine such blather. Consider how different the results might be if the following were used surveying older women and men.

Would you consider sex on a first date?

What if the first date were with; (for women) Mel Gibson? (for men) Janet Reno?
