Who is everybody bumping into?
Jammies, could you bump into me once or 1,000,000,000 times? ;)

Actually, not so much of a newbie here. More like a reformed lurker.
But I ain't no troll!
The worst I ever voted a story was a four.

Although I will admit. I'm JustaJerk.

There are many great writers that concentrate on one genre or another. As a reader, I have my preferences. I read what I like. (probably what makes it easier to vote higher).

Your stories are of a category that just doesn't do it for me. To each his own. All of your stories are rated H. Apparently you are an accomplished writer. But sadly, I'll probably never read any of them.
Good luck,
Justa

:D LMAO...I rather figured that's what you'd say. My stuff isn't for everyone, and I know it. I write what I like.

I take it you don't do poetry? I've got way more poems than stories. Even when you consider the collaberation I'm in with Jushorny.

To be honest, I don't even "get" poetry.
Just not smart enough, I guess.

A Reader wanting guidance on being useful

Okay - know it is probably buried somewhere in the 47 pages but as a reader - and just a reader (discovered I don't have the talent for writing erotica) - have a role in the AH section? Have been reading erotica for 20 plus years and past jobs have required me to read/edit/review other people's writings. I have been working at submitting constructive and encouraging comments here on lit since I don't want writers to stop writing. What the hell would I read then? I have been using the Anonymous function for sendng my commets to authors since I am a newbie and all. However, I would like to know if I can help out in some way. Currently on sabbatical, not working. Have time for a few months. Afraid to step on toes since I am a lowly reader.

Are you nuts?

"Lowly readers" are the ones to tell us we're doing fine, or not. ;)

I know most writers appreciate comments or feedback by email, other than "You got me real hard/wet."

:D

And if you feel like it, you can always offer your services as a volunteer editor.

Thank you, Black Tulip! Just wanted to make sure I didn't step on toes! Does seem "HOT" is the big comment word but I like to say more than that - I write nonfiction on my own time and well - I would like to get more than one word for my effort! Wellll - depending on the word -- and okay --- who said it!

Ignored? Neglected? Feeling left out?

If no one replies to your new thread, or your posts seem to be ignored, it isn't a sinister plot by the cliques in the Author's Hangout.

It happens to everyone, newbie or ancient denizen. Responses depend on who is around at the time, whether they are interested in the title of the thread, and what else is happening in the AH or elsewhere.

Just shrug your shoulders and carry on. Sometime one of your threads will develop a life of its own and continue for days, or your post will generate a heated argument and be frequently quoted. It doesn't happen to everything anyone writes and the more frequently posting names in the AH can feel ignored as much as the latest newbie.

Keep posting your pearls of wisdom. Someone, sometime, will recognise them for what they are and respond.

Oh surrrrrre...you'd like us to believe that huh? LOL ;)

Hmm? Scratches head.

If I don't reply to this I confirm that there is a clique or cliques in the AH who ignore other people's posts, or...

if I do reply, am I replying just to prove that there aren't cliques, when they actually exist and my reply is specious, or...

am I not replying because replying would be too simple a ploy, and you expect me to reply just to dispel the idea that there are cliques, and a non-reply would be a better response than a forced reply...

I think I'll just post a thread to ask 'The Question' because I now have three stories pending and I'm getting anxious that my submissions are being ignored and when they are posted no one will review them on the New Story thread because the stories are by Og and everyone knows the sort of stories he writes so there is no point in reviewing them anyway and that will confirm that Og isn't in a clique or if he is he is in a clique of one so everyone can ignore him with impunity...

Oh Sod It! I'll go and get drubnk.

Usually when they start asking intelligent questions like this, and that lil H for hot beside one of your stories is a good sign also. You need an AV now that you have over a hundred posts. If you have a pic that you want reduced I or a lot of others will be happy to fix it up for you.

Speaking of AV, how to you set one up? When I tried to edit mine the toggle wouldn't work. It remained at 'Don't use Avatar" or something to that effect. Is it because my first story submission hasn't made it into the stories yet? I know it doesn't take 100 posted stories 'cause I see them on profiles that have only a handful of stories up.

Don't listen to JL, she is trying to throw you off track. Bumps are these thingies on my chest here. Squeeze them both and watch what happens to the thread.
JL. I am just tryin to help out a delicious newbie, he, he.

Is your offer good for virgins, too?

BTW, what are the definitions for 'newbie' and 'virgin'? And does it really take 100 posts to qualify for an AV?

How about a bump to keep things near the top? *bump*

This is a graet thread, guys and girls. Keep it alive.

First off, welcome to the AH Skip

Second, it takes 100 "Post" to get the AV... Not stories...

A "newbie" is just that... someone new to the boards... you lose that over time and association...

Your virginity on the other hand only takes about 25 posts to lose and you'll probably not even notice that or know who really got your cherry.... :D

Oh, and be very careful of Lisa... don't let those white panties fool ya.... she bites and ..... well, I'll let you learn the hard way.... :p

Thanks for warning me about Lisa. I suspected as much anyway, but geeze, I AM a virgin, aren't I ? I've already lost my voting cherry, but I'm out to loose my AH cherry now. (grin)

advice needed, I'm new

I've been writing erotica for myself for ages and decided to take the plunge and submit my stories here. I'm not the most confident person in the world even though I go to a writing class and whatever I read out (non erotic) gets good comments.
I mainly write erotica for myself so don't want to completely change my plots but am open to suggestions, also I run all my stories through spellcheck.
I was wondering if anyone could suggest an editor, I have gone through the list but not sure who to choose. I basically just want someone to read through one or two of my stories and reassure me that they're not total cr*p! They are monstly n/c reluctance but leading to romance. (main female in dangerous situation, main male seems like villain at first but it all turns out good, you know the sort of stuff).
I'm female and would be more comfortable with a female editor.
Thanks,
Jasmine
