So I signed up to become a volunteer editor a few days back. I was all excited to receive my first requests just a few days after registering. I was receiving two or three a day initially and sent nice messages back to the initial few outlining what I could do for them and what my turnaround might be.

Given I'd already committed to reviewing a few, the next requests that came in I replied saying I couldn't take them on right now, maybe in a couple of weeks.

Whilst I got a couple of emails back from first set of authors with more details and one saying they had found someone else, to date I've not received one story to review.

Is this typical or have I done something wrong?

Turn on Private Messages.

* To switch on your Private Messages, go to User CP (top left of this page), click on Edit Options (in the left hand column), and then tick Enable Private Messaging in the second box down. Make sure that the box titled Receive Private Messages only from Buddies and Moderators is NOT ticked. Finally, click Save Changes at the bottom of that page.

Thank you. I've done that but my replies to them were from my own email inbox to their email address so bypassing literotica.

I've always had minimal success using the VE option so I thought it must be one of the things that don't quite work right. In any case, when I saw your posting here, I sent you a message via the VE option so hopefully it's working.

The VE program doesn’t function as most people expect. First it relies on the editors to remove their profile if no longer interested and also ensuring their email address is still up to date.

In my profile I direct authors to send their request via the PM system on the main site. I don’t allow my email to become known until I agree to edit. If I do reply through the VE program, my email is not entered and I re direct them to the PM system which is much safer.

I'm having trouble try to turn on PM. I click on my account, then click the avita edit button, then, then click on the options button, (in the left-hand column), but I'm not seeing "Enable Private Messaging" anywhere. Am I in the wrong spot? Please help.

The PM system was re-banded to Conversations, the guide seems to be slightly out of sync.

I would suggest attempting to following:
Far top right there should be a search box, two spots over (past Alerts and the Conversation inbox) your username should be next a icon.

Upon clicking on it you should hopefully see the below image.

Click the link titled privacy, near the bottom of that page there should be a "Allow users to" section.
It is likely that "Start conversations with you" is currently set to "Nobody".
I would suggest setting it to "Members Only" and then saving.

If all goes well you should now be able to have conversation/PMs.
Hope it helps.
Kind regards,
