I wish. We had to play with an oval ball. They made me Scrum-half. An opportunity for the thugs in the protection racket to kick the shit out of you. The only bit I enjoyed was the final whistle.

I used to play Rugby for my school in Australia - as lock.

No one beat us up. We were heavier and stronger than any team we played against and we were rough. We saw Rugby as an easier and less physical game than Australian Rules.

One of our matches had to be abandoned because out of 30 players, we only had 18 remaining on the pitch. The rest had been injured and Australian ideas of what is an injury was very loose. A broken arm? You've still got one.

The game was only stopped because the ambulance service refused at attend for any more injuries.

Another game was abandoned because after a five-yard scrum we pushed the other scrum over the line and brought down the posts.

I don’t bake a Christmas cake because I would end up eating it entirely by myself. Fair play to you for making one. Will you feed it weekly with brandy or are you going to put on the almond and royal icing as soon as it cools completely?
