New tolls! Is NY pricing themselves out of business?

Who cares?

Pull the federal funding and let NY and CA eat themselves alive.

Drove through there last month and my EZPass transponder started to overheat. Fucking ridiculous.

I was on a mission.

A mission, goddammit!!!

A mission from Allah!!!

Okay, I had a valid reason . . . and I hate Miami.

Too many people, but the weather is pretty good. Better'n Oklahoma where the wind comes whipping...

Anyone who thinks this is a problem has probably never been to Manhattan. It's one of the best places on earth for public transportation or, weather permitting, for walking. As for driving there, it's a nightmare and always has been.

Same issue in San Francisco. $8 (soon to be $9) crossing the bridge from the East (Oakland)and $9 (soon to be $10!) crossing into the city from the north (Sausillito and Marin).

The difference there is, first of all, in 2020 they fired all the toll takers and went to an automated system- they mail you a bill for "Toll Evasion" unless you pre-pay through one of those transponder things. And they claimed they did this to save money. And I guess they saved so much money by getting rid of the toll collectors, that they had to raise the fare. I fail to see the logic in this, but whatever.

Then, keep in mind that it's more expensive- always has been- to cross into the city from the north, From Sausillito across the Golden Gate Bridge. But if you don't live in San Francisco or have never visited, you might not realize that THERE IS NO FREEWAY ACCESS to that bridge. The north Bay crossing can only be accessed by surface streets, and if you're coming the other way, it dumps you out onto surface streets. Requiring you to navigate roughly two dozen stop lights as you cross town, before accessing another freeway.

So, big question... where is all this toll money going? What is it being spent on?
