I am new to trying to write these stories. I just submitted my 1st story, I am very interested in hearing what people have to say. Glad to see you're here, and like yourself, I'm also a newbie when it comes to writing stories. But I've got some questions:
1. Are you writing stories for the sole purpose of entertainment, or to also improve your writing ability?
2. Would writing mediocre stories be sufficient for you as long as you got an average rating and a few readers, or would you strive to write well-written stories with a unique concept?
I'm just wondering because a lot of people are sometimes scared off by some of the comments readers may have for them, and were completely taken aback by what others may have been expecting.
For some advice, I'd get familiarized with an editor or two to help you with your writing. I've had help with grammar, syntax, but right now I'm trying to focus on character and plot development. I know all of this may seem like a bit much right off the bat, but it's good to keep these things in mind in order to avoid the horrible anonymous "your story was shit" comments, that I've seen other authors experience.
