So start asking.

Welcome to the AH, msharris.

Welcome.

The actual stories don't get posted in the forums, but there are several forums dedicted to discussing the stories, the writing of stories, the editing of stories and the detailed critique of specific stories -- including this one.

For personalized, specific help with individual stories, your best bet is the Volunteer Editors List and/or the Editors Forum where you can find people with the time and inclination to go over your stories and offer specific corrections and advice. The level of ability and responsiveness varies widely, as should be expected from a group of self-appointed "editors" but the last time I looked, the volunteer editors list is huge and there is one or more there that offers exactly the level of help you need. You just need the persistence and patience to find them.

For help with writing in general, this is probably the best forum. I think the most recent "writing" thread is about "narrative voice," but we've discussed and discussed everything from where story ideas come from to the unintentional humor created by bad spelling and using the wrong words.

FWIW, you've jumped in with a bunch of spelling and grammar police who are almost compulsive about showing of our linguistic skills. We're not complete ogres about it, but "txt spk" is pretty much a foreign language to most of us.
