Story url's have clear text aliases now.

Instead of "showstory.php?id=12345" is now says "my_hot_fuck_story".

Is this new? Last time I looked, which was yesterday, it wasn't there.

Anyway, neat. All hail manu.

It wasn't there this morning either, at least not at 3am Eastern time. It also looks as though there's a link where you can change the URL shown.

That's cool, too. Thanks, Manu. :)

Url

SO how do I now add a new story.

What's the URL supposed to look like?

Hope someone can enlighten me please.

Thank you in advance

My guess is that you submit as you always would and the URL will be generated automatically and shown below the stats that have always been there (views, votes, etc). I don't have anything new to submit, so I can't say for sure, but I suspect that's the case.

thanks

I shall try that

didnt work says I must provide a URL

I'm having the same problem. I pasted the text and when I go to Preview, it says in big red letters that I have to provide a URL. :(

I see it now! On the submit page. Cool. Wonder if there is going to be any help text for the field? I tried several with no luck...then left off the .com .net .org and it worked. Go figure. And they should add a little sample to the right. If the title is populated and you and a URL name then show us how it will look. That would be cool.

I see. Just did a test and it asks for a URL, but I just typed in the title without anything else (used my latest story as a test and just did 'grandezafirro' in the URL line and it accepted it)

I suspect the full URL will show once the story gets approved and posted to the site, because in pending, it's not there.

ETA: Probably when we submit a story now, if the title is more than one word, I'd suggest to use a hyphen for the URL since those seem to be allowed, based on the already existing URLs.

getting frustrated!!!

tried just the title-nothing happened keeps saying unavailable

tried by putting www.literotica in front of the title nothing happened

the story is called:
Tina's first night out

You don't change the URL just the how the title of your work is displayed in the URL. If you type the same thing then it's already in use. No spaces allowed or special characters.

That's the title, but break it down as if it were a URL.

Try this:

tinas-first-night-out

I did a quick test using that and it worked for me.

Yeah, looks like underscores aren't allowed, but hyphens are.

Incidentally, it makes it nice for people who like to list their recent stories in their sig lines. Takes up less characters with the new URLs. I think there's a 2000 character limit if I recall. Shortens the URLs a lot and lets you fit more in your sig. Good for some, not good for others, I guess. :)

ETA: Now if we could get user names instead of the long URL for our stories page (like literotica.com/michchick98) that'd be way cool! *hint hint, Manu*

I tried that a ferw times but kept saying unavailable.
However I entered the category its in as the URL and that worked
bloody confusing though

See, what confused me was how it displays in Chrome...

attachment.php

I have already sent Manu a PM.

Odd. My guess is that the first part of the URL is the same for everyone (http://www.literotica.com/s/) and the story title goes after, in your case it should be tinas-first-night-out

Maybe after the story posts you can change it. I don't think it should be unavailable now since I deleted the test submission I used to try it out.

Maybe try variations of the hyphenated title:

tinas-firstnight-out

tinas-first-nightout

or put a number after

tinas-first-night-out-1

or tinas-first-night-out1

Maybe there's another story already out there with the same title and that's why it's not accepting it.

Just keep trying until it accepts something you're happy with. You can always change it later.

If all else fails, you could always fire off a PM to Manu:

http://forum.literotica.com/private.php?do=newpm&u=2

or Laurel:

http://forum.literotica.com/private.php?do=newpm&u=7
