New Reuters poll: Harris 44%, Trump 42% 🙂

Agreed but it’s nice to see a bump
I do expect a huge bump initially.....overreaction from those who wanted Biden out but were cautious to admit it who now feel freed to admit it...etc.

We'll see. I'm a bit perplexed and pissed that the DNC is doing the virtual call too....that will take some winds out of the sails as well. People who will turn on the convention coverage will absolutely be confused that she's already the nominee and I think that will turn people off.

The battleground State polls will be more important. We have already seen the winner of the national poll is not always the winner of the electoral college.

I freely admit to not knowing a whole lot in-depth about the way things are done here in the U.S, but from my perspective it looks as if they want things as consolidated as possible behind Harris before the convention, so no big surprises/challenges that might throw voters out of sync and the convention really being the official 'crowning' of the candidate.

If it's one thing republicans have got down, it's the non-challenging of trump as candidate. Everyone of them knew he was to be named officially at the republican convention. If there's one absolute need now it's for the Dems to be unified behind a single candidate, and Kamala Harris is that chosen person. She's out the gates running and that girl has some chops.

I also admit to being delighted that my worries she would be received less favourably than President Biden by voters seems to be vanishing by the hour.

Fair enough. In an election within margins, any move should be scrutinized....voters need to be gained and turning people off who are already fed up with what they've been given is a risk. The upside of holding off is more transparency which I think should be more important right now.

Friendly reminder that BB will put down any poll which makes his candidate look bad, and tout any poll which does the opposite, regardless of reality and with zero recognition of hypocrisy. 🙂

Don't even attempt to teach MAGAs about polling. It is too much like science and math which they believe is devilry.
All polls say something about the state of the election and candidate support....even the ones skewed towards one of the candidates (such as Rasmussen)

There is only one poll that matters.
Channeling your "inner AJ", boss? (AJ used to trot that line out each time there was a poll he disapproved of).

Full disclosure: I've gotten in the habit of doing so as well, because I know it annoys AJ and his posse.

Back on topic: Best quote from the article
HARRIS SEEN AS SHARPER THAN BIDEN, TRUMP

Some 56% of registered voters agreed with a statement that Harris, 59, was "mentally sharp and able to deal with challenges," compared to 49% who said the same of Trump, 78.

As the felon sex offender himself pointed out, if the pollsters had asked more MAGAts, they would have given him higher polling numbers. You can't argue with that kind of logic.

I’ve now spoken will all of my z-gen kids and their significant others.

All of them were seriously questioning the value of voting between two old men. Most of them weren’t planning to vote this time. Now they’re all optimistic. Two of them have joined local campaigns.

In my family, Harris stepping in changed things from 3 - yes and 1 maybe for Biden to 7 - yes and 1 maybe for Harris.
(Still 0 for Trump) 😉

The bump will not be insignificant.
