New Presidential directive on cyber security

Here is the only problem I see which isn't being discussed much. Not all hacks are appropriate for federal government intervention in the same way that not all cases of murder are cases of international terrorism.

Most crimes are crimes of state and local jurisdiction. There is no reason to believe cybercrime is any different.

The language of the presidential directive appropriately defers to "civil liberties" and lawful "authorities" and notes the key roles of state and local governments.

The problem will be for state and local law enforcement to keep up in an area that has obviously challenged the capabilities of our best technology at the federal level.

Yeah, I expect few states have the resources they really need.

It's kinda a hard call on fed vs state, but keep in mind that nearly all hacks cross state lines by the very nature of the internet, so I certainly see the argument.

My bigger concern is going overboard, given some recent vague court rulings about sharing passwords.

Maybe if Trump wins the election he will appoint Hillary as the Cyber Security Czar. She at least know what not to do.
