New Milestones Thread

I just got my 200th vote on A Holiday Wish.

That’s maybe not so remarkable, but it remains the story which I have the highest vote to view ratio. And it’s not even close.

All seven of my “Nude Therapy” series are now 4.51 or higher. All three of the spinoff series “Girls Naked Sports” are also over.
If you like to read about women getting naked, give ‘em a try. 😳

I just submitted the final chapter of the first story I ever wrote called A Whole New Life, ending an 8 1/2 year saga.

It started as a stand-alone and I wrote another story and actually submitted a couple chapters of the other one first. As I was editing "A Whole New Life", I got an idea to turn it into a series, so I wrote the second chapter....then the whole plot line I had in mind changed and life stepped in. Three years later another chapter, three years after that, another. Then almost three years later, it was time...and I finished it. Funny thing I realized recently, the MMC and MFC in both series are pretty much the same...oh well, I have my thing I guess.

Now to close up the third series I've been working on, then I think I'm going to try an erotic murder mystery....we'll see how far I get before the weather turns and free time turns back to golf.

Well done. I always feel a loss finishing a multi-part work. You have been with those people so long.

Damn…Lesbian Sex is a tough category. 4.9 only gets you to #80 all-time?!?!
Man, 4.90 in SciFi and Fantasy all-time list gets you to #115 only. To be fair, scores are not a good measure of anything, but more than that, they also don't have the same meaning across different categories. The scoring system sucks, period.

We can agree to disagree on the scoring system, I think it’s just fine other than the BS that takes place in LW.

The problem with the Sci Fi list is that it's so crammed with chapters, which are scored and ranked for list purposes as separate, standalone stories. This is a problem for other categories, too, but it seems especially acute in Sci Fi because so many of the stories seem to be long, multi-chaptered stories. The system does a disservice to both readers and authors. A reader, looking for a story to read for the first time, is not going to find it helpful to look at a list of 250 stories and find that it's taken up mostly by the late chapters of long series. That doesn't convey useful information to the potential reader. The Site must find a way of giving a series a single score--either take the average of the whole series or use the highest scoring chapter--and rank the entire story once. My understanding is that the Site has been working on this for a while, but until it implements it the all-time story ranking lists are deeply flawed.

I agree with everything you said. Either an aggregate score for chaptered stories or just show the chapter that ranks the best. Making a separate ranking for short, medium, and long stories, where chaptered stories would be ranked according to their total word count, or something along those lines, would be even better. There are like ten different ways the scoring system could be modified or redone to be more informative for both readers and writers, but I guess we know better than to expect anything to change in this place, ever.

I think an aggregate score for chaptered stories when it comes to Top Lists makes sense, but I don’t think they should be listed that way on an author’s individual story library. Some chapters are better than others and should be judged as such.

It's a problem in Novels & Novellas as well. I am in a good position to see both sides of the issue, I have two stories in the all time Top Ten, one a stand alone, the other a sequel. I think the fairest solution is a separate list for chaptered stories.

I need a bit of positivity today, after all the negativity of yesterday, and maybe that continued on until sometime this morning, judging by the number of locked threads. Somebody put a smile on my face, PEASE!

I’m afraid to even read a 5.0 story. What if I think it’s a 4.0? Will I ruin the author for life?
