New Milestones Thread

Are we still doing milestones in this thread? :)

If so, I just posted my sixth story of the year... a personal record.

(I know that's nothing for most of y'all, but for me writing a story is like passing a kidney stone).

Grand tally for 2023: 6 stories, average score 4.74, 46,805 words total, 16 characters created, and 20 orgasms written 😀
Congratulations! Yep still doing milestones. My sixtieth posted New Year's at about 12:30 am. BTW all postings are personal records ... I envy your average. That's fantastic.

X + Twitter.

The X is pronounced as it would be in Chinese. It’s a very appropriate name.

So – Xiao Twitter or 'Tiny Twitt' ?

Announcing a return to the regularly scheduled thread of 'bragging rights'

Uggh - Milestone - The BIG Story Letdown (new authors take note)

I just finished Enchantress 8 - All Hail the Queen, the last installment in a proper Octalogy. An Octalogy is, of course, a large story that is told not in 8 parts, but by eight complete stories. Each story is an individual stand alone story but together the eight stories tell the story of a female wizard and a male witch. They were orphans (She was abandoned at the age of 1 month, he was abandoned at the age of 5) who found each other, fell in love and eventually became rulers of a Kingdom ending in his painful death (seven times) The Enchantress Octalogy currently stands at 412K words, but that will change as the last story goes into final editing. There's several scenes that are light and will be beefed up.

It happens every time I reach this point of a big story, the huge emotional letdown. I've been writing this Octalogy nonstop since the 2023 Geek Pride event and got so invested with the characters, I feel like I let them down when I completed the story (or killed them off as the case may be). I even gave it a sad sappy ending to match my mood. I may add a short epilogue as I edit #8, we'll see if I can climb out of this funk.

I hear you, guy. I spent three years writing Mary and Alvin. Those characters lived in my head every day. A song would come on the radio, I'd decide if they'd like it. I'd go to lunch, I'd think about what they'd order. I wrote about them in slow times at work, I wrote about them during boring classes. I wrote about them on my frickin' honeymoon.

By the time I was approaching the end of the series, I was anxious to get on with other things, particularly, The Gold Dollar Girls, which I had wanted to write for a long time. I wrote a quickie for the Summer Loving contest. When I finally finished M&A I was rarin' to go on new things. I wrote a Halloween story...and then I went back to writing about Mary and Alvin for my Christmas contest story. Turns out I still wasn't ready to let them go.

So I know that funk. The only way out of it is to dive into that next project.

It ain't workin'
I'm in a project I had been holding off on for a month and the readers have been begging for it, and as I work on the new project I'm saying to myself "I can write a new story and call it Enchantress 5.1, that won't ruin the Octalogy..." then I thought, "The kids, I can write a story about them..." or... I covered over 50 years on this project, there's a lot of space out there that wasn't covered.

I was worse with We're a Wonderful Wife.

Milestone: first story published. I am inordinately pleased with this right now, heh.

Well, technically, first part of longer story published, but the other two parts are "Pending."

Still inordinately pleased to start the new year with that.
Well done 👍

LibreOffice, but that would be Word pages. Not sure what the ration of Word/Lit pages is.

A bit over 45000 words, not including the two chapters I took out to make stand alone short stories. I keep filling in the backstory.

I may have gone slightly mad.

One Lit page = 3750 words, approximately.

I just published the first story on Lit to be tagged with “smashing the patriarchy”. This can only be because last year I apparently used “smashing patriarchy” instead 🙄

I’m not coy about my life goals. Too bad I’m inconsistent with my tagging practices.

Hey, at least you didn't accidently go with splashing the pentarchy or something. Not that anyone would actually make the mistake to type in the wrong word into a tag or anything..

A maybe silly, and certainly inconsequential, milestone but I had my 10,000th reaction today.

And the lucky person was @Bazzle, who reacted to this post.

I suppose the only thing to be said is that, while the number of posts is solely down to me, the number of reactions is down to others.

So thank you for putting up with me.

😊😊😊
