New Milestones Thread

Publish it here, HypocriteLecteurYouCompleteCowardTurnCoatYoullLoveLaurelNext.

The stupid frog and the "at least" does not let you off the hook, just sayin' ;).
Meh. The website I wrote the story for was strangely nonresponsive. It's like being beyond logic comes with the territory. 🫤

Anyway, not wanting to waste the story, I submitted it here, and it's been pending for three days already. Something tells me it will take many days before it gets published.

But wait, maybe you could include me in your prayers? Put in a good word for me? :p

If anyone can do it, it's you. You're like the Ned Flanders of Lit. :D

Good man!

Next time, 750 words. Totally pervert your soul. You can do it, I have faith.

Congratulations. Tremendous reach. :rose:

I  the mixed feelings about the back catalogue being the repository of the bulk of the views, and the recent efforts seeming slow in comparison. In my case, I take comfort in seeing a strong trend towards higher ratings, and more favourites (though I've never understood favouriting). I try to remind myself that in ten years, these current stories might have many views as well, but even if not, they are finding the correct readers.
That's the biggest benefit, yes.
Part of me is a bit divorced from my earlier stories. I know they're decent, but I also know they're not as good as what I'm writing now. But that's fine. They got me here, they helped me build my confidence to write what I'm writing now (which has resulted in higher ratings in general), they got me more followers, and as you said, they're kind of there to help my new stuff find the right readers. I keep seeing it with readers liking one older story, following, then reading newer stuff. As long as it works!

I'm not quite divorced from mine. maybe in an open marriage? Some of them, I am very fond of still.

Someone just 'favorited' (another noun made into a verb, I guess) two of my stories. Out of their 39 total favorites over three years, two are my stories. But what made it even better was it puts me in the same rarified air as onehitwanda who also has favorite stories for this reader.

I gotta take my victories wherever I can.

Yes, that's satisfying, isn't it? At least half the time when someone favourites your story, and you investigate their lists, they have thousands and you can't find yours anywhere. But at other times you're on a fairly small list with people you've heard of and admire - wow, someone liked onehitwanda's story and also mine! And I could even do a screen grab to prove it if I was egotistical enough, ahem.

Every once in a while a polar bear shows up in the forums and mauls someone, usually one of my body doubles. There was a rampant spate of them for about a week back in February and I lost a dozen or so body doubles, but it's kinda calmed down since then and only happens every once in a while.

A thread started by @EmilyMiller to play with our dirty minds ended up high jacked by killer polar bears in a matter of minutes. Who would have known?

A milestone: After two years, I finally got around to submitting another story.

Or, more accurately, an opening chapter of a story.
I had started and nearly finished a story for the Nude Day thing, but procrastination happened.
So, to make myself feel better after some time feeling bad about not getting something done,
I sat down and, in one day, banged out a few thousand words. I read it a couple times, fixed a few typos, went back and forth in a discussion with myself over the title. Being somewhat satisfied with what I’d done, I copied a chunk that felt like adequate as an opening scene and submitted it.

I figure life has seriously tried to kill me five times. Two overdoses, one miscarriage, one murder attempt, one prison assault and my recent health crisis.

I'm still here, bitches.
Your absence did seem somewhat abrupt. I hope you are well now and that the crisis is in the past.

P.S.

That was six. :p
