New computer

Does sound good for games.

But im not a gamer and if it don't run OSX, i'm not interested.

Meh.

Curious: Just in terms of a ballpark figure - how much did this whole setup cost?

I want to know this too.

The computer I got off of Ibuypower.com

Before the 5% discount and shipping rates (which are expensive) it was ~$1350. It has maybe $20-40 worth of rebates. I ordered it with 1GB of RAM and ordered the RAM separately off of Newegg (link) for $150 (and it has a $25 MIR)

So about $1400-$1500.

The monitor was $260 and had a $20 MIR, bringing it down to $240 (link).

Yay for your new computer!

I'm a mac woman myself. I would make out with it were it anatomically correct. :)

So I'm getting a new computer, as my old one was a piece of crap and went kapooooooooot.

Now I share my excitement!

Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q9550 (4x 2.83GHz/12MB L2 Cache/1333FSB)

MSI P7N SLI-FI Nvidia nForce 750i SLI Chipset w/7.1 Sound, Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, USB 2.0, IEEE-1394, Three PCI-E MB

OCZ Gold 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

2x NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT 1GB w/ DVI + TV Out Video (Running SLI mode)

1 TB HARD DRIVE [Serial-ATA-II, 3Gb, 7200 RPM, 16M Cache] (leaving second HD spot open for the future)

2 CD/DVD-RWs

onboard 3D surround sound

12-In-1 Internal Flash Media Card Reader/Writer (Awesome for my photo stuff)

Also, probably going to order this monitor: Link

...Yum. :D

I have to pick up a new laptop or two.

I just haven't had the time to research it yet.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I'm not the smartest computer gal, I'd get more knowledgeable people. :D I especially fail when it comes to graphics cards, so I had help picking those out.

Delightful.

I have a Digital Rebel XTi.

Just saying.

Cool, the same camera body I have, I even have a 300 MM all glass zoom lens on mine.

It is approved by the PTA ( Peeping Tom Association ).

Jeebus. That thing is a beast.

*jealous*

I know, I'm excited as FUCK. I ordered it last night.

I was the same when I ordered my new notebook a while ago.

My other one was about 4 years old, so it was a massive jump in specs.

It's was awesome.

Still is.

Still love it.

Although it's not as massive as yours, it suits me to a T.

Yeah, mine is like 5-7 years old, and a Dell.

That should say pretty much everything.
