*i come floundering down from my suite, still not feeling well. walking over to the kitchen to warm myself some chicken noodle soup i made earlier. looking like death still cold dressed in my black warm up pants, a big grey fleece shirt, wool socks and moccasin slippers. taking my hot bowl of soup, big glass of OJ and some dry toast, i move gingerly towards the fireplace. setting my tray down on the hearth, i move the big ottoman in front of the big slate hearth. taking a few seasoned cherry logs from the pile, i toss them into the glowing ambers. i kneel down in front of the hearth and gently blow on to the radiant ambers like i am praying to the fire gods. without notice the wood catches as if my prayers have been answered and not a second to soon as i am light headed. scooting back to the ottoman dusting off my knees, i take the heavy quilt and struggle to get it to cover all of me. picking up my soup, i take the first taste and i can't tell if it's the soup, the flames or the deep internal flame of my love that begins to warm me. sitting there staring into the amberish hues of the flickering flames, i begin to think about her wishing she was here with me. even in my sickly state thoughts of her ravage my heart and soul constantly and i know right then and there that i must spend the rest of my life with her. stiring my soup still looking into the fire, i take the spoon to my lips allowing the hot broth to soothe my stomach just like the hot thoughts of my love have soothed my soul. snickering to myself i think this is why they must call that book chicken soup for the soul. i take a few more sips from the broth and sit the pewter bowl back down on the tray. lifting the OJ to my lips, i taste the sweetness of it and again i think of my love. done filling my stomach of goodness, i decide it's time to fill my head and soul. i take the heavy quilt now filled with warmth from the fire and crawl back into the huge velvet winged back chair. kicking and stretching i just can't seem to get it to cover my feet. i lay there all curled with my feet sticking out and begin to fall asleep thinking of her and how badly i need to feel her touch for the rest of my life. not her body touching mine but the fingers of her soul running through mine. a smile broadens across my shadowed face and just then i feel the stubborn quilt fall over my feet finally covering them. i fall deeply asleep knowing that she had something to do with it and mumble something sofly in my sleep.*
