He didn't leave me. I broke it off so he could move forward with his life and being where he needs to be. I was sad because I lost something important to me, not because he left. It was a friendly split. Didn't make it any easier.

I imagine a trip to Home Depot for a couple of flashlights and a volunteer or two that are good with their hands to hold them could fix several of your problems.
