Hey everyone,

A lot has changed for our culture's public image in recent times. We've progressed from being considered abhorrent and sinful in the Victorian era to being classified as mentally ill in the childhood of pyschology to finally being the butt of comedy sketches and cartoons. We may have left Egypt, but Canaan lies yet in the horizon.

Movies like The Secretary have done a lot to promote a positive image of our culture and they deserve our support. Here is another movie that was recently made and brought to my attention. It is called The Pet and you can see a trailer for it here:

The Producers of this movie need our help! Make sure this movie is promoted enough to get a theatrical release! Here's what you can do:

1. Visit www.myspace.com/thepetmovie and become a FRIEND of THE PET MOVIE; leave a comment showing your enthusiasm with what city you want to see the movie in and how many people you think you could get to see it.

2. OR, email thepetmovie@tricoast.com and let them know the city and number of guests to attend the opening.

3. Be vocal on other internet groups and let them all know about THE PET and #'s 1 and2 above.

4. Forward this to all of your friends!

Is this spam, Marquis? Had seen it being discussed elsewhere, but haven't read what was said as yet. I still am fairly sceptical about movie makers from the mainstream giving a positive image of our lifestyle and though I respect your opiniojn, I thought The Secretary was a prime example and gave a negative image to mainstream, and reinforced what lot of them already felt was true, basically that we are a mentally fucked up group of people and subs obviously come from backgrounds of self harm, abuse, who are open to someone who is going to treat them like shit without consent thus winning their poor weak submissive hearts. and are anything other than well balanced and self determining adults who are capable of controlling their own destiny if needed. Perhaps that is why it appealed so much to the mainstream and shock seekers.

In what sense is this spam? It occurs to me that not everyone will feel the same about any work of art, having liked Secretary myself, but does not the proliferation of our lifestyle in the media have an informative effect regardless of the impression it makes, just as even the earliest recognition of sadomasochism in texts of psychology was an inspiration to those who felt they were alone in their desires, despite the texts themselves diagnosing these propensities as a form of psychosis? Whether or not to support this project is a choice of which I do not understand why the people of this board should be deprived. Certainly the content is relevant to the nature of this forum and if nothing else the imagery may serve to titilate the senses.

Marquis. :p

Interesting trailer, Marquis. The description at Yahoo Movies provides additional details about the plot of the film -

"Follows a young woman who, in an emotional and financial crisis, succumbs to the charm of an aristocratic benefactor. Their relationship develops from her desire to be loved and cared for and his desire to overcome the loss of his beloved setter, a loyal and devoted pet. She agrees for a considerable sum of money to become his human pet, to sleep in a cage, never wear clothes, and to be led on a leash for a period of six-months. His desire to showcase his beautiful new pet and to have her market value appraised prompts him to place her on the GSM or the Global Slave Market. His arrogance and wealth together are no match for the power and ruthlessness of 21st century slave traders."

I would be very interested in seeing it, though preferably in my own home.
So I'd buy or at least rent the DVD.

Ah, cool. I was wondering how the slave traders came in.
