Time to update my music library again! I know we have some music lovers on this forum, so shoot me some suggestions.

My tastes are eclectic but here's what I don't listen to:

  • Thrashy or screamy heavy metal. (If I want to hear white men scream, I'll watch FOX News)
  • Most Country/Western (I have exceptions, such as Johnny Cash)
  • Reggae (Used to love Reggae but it's ALL L has listened to for the past year, so I'm done!)
  • Boy bands

And, yes, I like classical music and opera but that's not what I'm looking for.

Tunes to run to, tunes to read to, driving tunes, sad-time tunes, bathtub tunes, house cleaning tunes...show me what you've got! :D

Who are you listening to now that you're loving?

My ears are open...

you said no classical... but I highly recommend In a Time Lapse, Nightbook and Divinere (in that order) by Ludovico Einaudi.

Lots of mood music in there. a mix of piano and various instruments. some of them have, recently, raised me from depression or reduced me to tears.

Lovely, thanks Malich. I will have a listen. Hope you're feeling better. :rose:

Songs that are driving the people in my life crazy cause they are on repeat lately...

My newest audiocrush is Ed Sheeran... Drunk ~ Ed Sheeran (Great tune AND cat video, if you are into :cattail:'s.), Give Me Love and Kiss Me are both swoony achy fun. This is a link that has the whole album on the youtube if you like em or him. :D

I am also totally hooked on Happy by C2C and insist on playing for anyone who answers no to my question of have you head of these awesome French guys?!? A few others of theirs I find head bopping are Down the Road, Because of You & FUYA.

One of my faves Matt Nathanson has a new single out called Mission Bells that I like and his video is dripping with Hitchcock movie references which is just heaps~o~fun too. :)

Oh, and not new new, but Imagine Dragons song Demons is a good one too!

More later... I need to go study!

Not tooooo new, but I like the new one from The National.

If you like Bjork at her weirdest you might get into The Knife. Maybe. I like it but it's not like "woo let me pop this in while I wash dishes."

Kurt Vile has likeable jangle JUUUUST this side of alt country, but you can't not like it.

Hip Hop? Y/N? Almost everything I'm excited about lately is, or is close enough to, but my favorite stuff is aggro and challenging and weird for anyone.

I am not not not a Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds fan. The new one? Can't get enough. I don't know why I'm riveted. Jubilee Street is the track I fault.

If you just want some twee lo-fi this must be in an ipad commercial somewhere pop with cute icelandic accents, Of Monsters and Men.

I listened to the new Pink album on the road with my daughter today. It's quite good, with a nice mix between upbeat and ballad tunes.

I've just discovered an artist who's been around a while--Joe Bonamassa. His music has splendid guitar riffs that remind me of Robin Trower crossed with Eric Clapton, and he has a voice that's reminiscent of Steve Miller and Greg Allman. Good driving beats, nice blues bits. I especially recommend the Dust Bowl album.

Mil gracias everyone! I'll start my listening journey tomorrow

Very exciting to see names I've never heard before. The last time I put out a call for music here, I added a lot of fantastic tunes to my library!

Awesome morning of listening! Thanks again. So many different styles. Love it.

Cali, I can see why you're stuck on "Happy". :D

sethp, I loved "Lucky". Very funky!

Netz, I've never actually listened to any Nick Cave stuff. I purchased "Mermaids" for novel writing mood music.

desertslave, have you seen Pink's live performance of "Try" on the American Music Awards? I have to give her props, that was some fine dancing and it seems as if she wasn't lip syncing, either.

Lover's Kitten. HA! The Kimmel video was funny!

My library's still open if anyone thinks of anymore gems. :)

Not brand new but Vintage Trouble (Jezzebella or Nancy Lee for example), Madeline Peyroux' latest (I think?) The blue room, Yeah Yeah Yeahs Mosquito, Beth Hart.
Otherwise a lot of what I listen to falls in some of your no-categories.

Ha! Well, I like to think I'm a pretty open-minded listener, but I also know what my ears definitely do not like and I hate to waste anyone's time.

There are some musical genres that I might not listen to in everyday life that inspire me when I'm writing - usually mood setting. So, there are always exceptions. ;)

I picked up a couple of Yeah, Yeah, Yeah's tracks. Thanks!

And I added Tropical depression and some other tracks from this thread to my Spotify-lists.
Good thread!:)

I suddenly feel so vapid. My taste is so much poppier (and country-er and hip-hoppy-er) than everyone else's. :(

My contribution is a song I'm sure everyone's heard, since it's been everywhere for the last year. But it makes me happy every time I hear it, so I'm contributing, anyway. :p

"Some Nights" by Fun.

LOL! Do not despair, BB. I have a good dose of pop and hip hop in my library (not so much country, though).

Besides, I know you're a fellow Parrot head. :D

And I love that song you linked. ;)

I love that that is what redeems my taste. :p

Me, too!

Also, I know that you're not a country fan, but since you are a Parrot head, you might find that you like some of Kenny Chesney's newer stuff and the Zac Brown Band (assuming you haven't already discovered them). :)
