Wow, the first page of the Playground can't change very often with all those never ending threads on it!

What about moving all of them to a new subforum? The Playground geographic zone, or something like that? (I'm not creative with coming up with names.)

We have a similar problem on the general board, only no where near as bad as here. We thought of the sub-forum idea (or maybe someone from here did, I don't remember) OR a new feature being able to ignore individual threads without having to put the thread starter on ignore.

What would work best for the Playground as far as the never ending threads?

I think we should move all never ending threads to the GB.

I think the playground is where all the lozers hang out when they're not at the plasma donation center or the methadone clinic.

wait, maybe they have internet in those places too...

Fine with me, as long as Laurel figures out how to give us the "ignore a thread" feature we requested.

Seriously though, did you look at the first couple pages here? The never ending threads are the NORM here. Doens't look like too many people are able to fit a word in edgewise between all of them.

DON'T FEED THE TROLLS!!

Playground posters, please ignore this temporary disruption, without nourishment, the trolls will disappear and life will return to normal for us all.

Mine is an honest question. I'll thank you to not refer to me as a troll. I'd rather be called the Mother of the Playground (and I don't care for that title, either.)

Back on topic:

Would putting all the never ending threads in a sub forum really be a sub-sub forum though? If the Playground is already a subforum of the personals, where do all the never ending threads go? Another forum at the same level as the Playground or a new forum at a lower level?

What trolls? Where? Did you smoke the green tea? That's for medicinal purposes only.

My apologies Cheyenne, my post was never intended for you.

I quoted someone that did post on this thread, and my post was directed at that person, who has been trying to stir up trouble on this board.

I felt that his inane comment degraged your genuine question.

I have always had upmost respect for you.

Accepted. Now answer my question in this thread, please?

Actually I suggested it I think in your original thread.

I think a seperate board should be started for all threads based on locality.

It would free up this board beautifully, and take a few threads from GB as well.

Bonus, would be anyone new to this site and looking for people who live in their area, would know where to look. It's too confusing as it is.

I post on this board, and am labeled a Playgrounder, but most of my posting here is to the Aussie thread.

The playground is for talking about personal ads and seeing as they were not doing so in 7 or more posts, the threads were moved to the general board where they belonged.
This thread has nothing to do with personal ads.

Please move it to the General Board.

Thank you.

What the hell are you talking about? Of course it is related to personal ads and the discussion of what is in the personals vs the Playground vs the general board, vs a new subforum for never ending threads.

I would move all never ending threads though, not just those based on location. My first choice, personally, is still to have the ability to just ignore individual threads though. If I get that ability, then I don't care if every never ending thread there ever was is moved to the general board.

Cheyenne, I think he posted that on just about every thread on Page 1 of the playground.

Ignore it.

This is a technical issue, and it is not a discussion of personal ads. It is related to personal ads in the same way that discussions of geology are related to personal ads, since Lit resides on a server that sits on the earth, personal ads reside on the server, and they are subject to earthquakes. If the other threads that were moved were not relevant, neither is this one.

Your reading comprehension needs work. Try again.

Cheyenne, I would love to see the neverending threads moved to a subforum of their own. The location threads as well. It would make it so much easier for people to find. Plus most of the people that post on these threads are normally very good with newbies.

But I don't know how that could be done unless boards were split up into subsections.

Threads don't end because people love posting on them. Is that not what Lit is about ? Voicing your opinion where you want to? Anyone can post on any of these threads if they wish. The ones that are large are because those people are here everyday and love to talk to alot of different people. If it is not broke why try to fix it?

Don't bother trying again, though, it won't make any difference.

It seems like there are so many of the really really long threads on the first couple pages though that new threads just kind of get pushed to the back pages. Maybe more of them would have a chance to get posts if they were more visible? Maybe people would start more discussion threads here if they thought they had a chance to survive for a little while?

Other than move the long threads to a sub-forum, another option would be to create an ignore thread option. Those who don't participate in the long threads could ignore just those threads, but still see the posts of the people who started them. That might "clean up" the board a bit to make it more active. I think we need the same option on the general board, by the way.

In other words, there isn't anything wrong with the long threads. People should be able to post to them if they want. But it would be nice for others to not have to see the long threads that they have no intention of ever posting to.

It would be nice if all posters with over 20,000 posts would go into therapy. Or post in the bdsm cafe.

I don't see any benefit in making a neverending thread board, every thread started has the potential to become one. When would a thread be deemed neverending? How many replies? Who is going to monitor all of the boards 24/7 to move them? Would the GB folks want to have to wade through a zillion PG game threads to fine the 'thread killa' link? If combined, wouldn't it cause more animosity and disruption of threads that work well where they're at? Another thought... a single place for game threads might be appropriate. They are what they are, games.

There are other neverending threads that would be hard to categorize anywhere. Let me think... sex related threads, music threads, restaurant, bar & cafe threads, pool party threads, poetry and writer's threads, and even lifestyle threads that may not have been appropriate on other boards when created.

There are so many neverending threads that you'd have to create many sub-categories to accomodate all of them properly. Are you going to take threads from all existing categories and lump them together in one group solely based on the fact that they are neverending? Combine PG, GB, BDSM, GLBT, Poetry and Literary threads of this nature simply because they are ongoing threads? Sure, the BDSM Flirt thread could easily be moved to the BDSM Cafe, but combining the rest simply for the sake of lumping them together would cause them to lose following in their specific areas. How would new members know where to find them?

On another note, if only those mingled were from the GB and the PG, many might be turned off by sarcastic posts from a handful of GB'ers that love stirring up shit. No, not all GB'ers do that, but as a result of the posts of some, wouldn't they all become GB threads eventually and lose following by PG posters because of content? IMHO, they're all fairly forum specific at this time, and do well where they are at.

The location specific threads could well be lumped together in a sub-category. However, they aren't limited to personals... they contain everyday conversations that would cause them to be removed from the Personals section. If they were given their own place, would they be limited to the discussion of personal ads in that area only? They'd lose 3/4 of their following, if so.

IMHO, there is too much crap going on over the politics of board management. All of this discontent seems to be based on the opinions of moderators, and their ability to take action in performing their duties.

If you are unhappy with the actions of a particular moderator, why didn't you sign up for the job when it was available? Many are quick to voice their discontent, yet where were they when the position was available? Would they have even bothered to agree to be a Mod, and put a lot of their personal time into performing Mod duties?

Oh well, enough said.

QuickDuck, love the bunny!

I agree. There is no reason to subcatagorize long threads. The Playground is not that much different than the GB in that respect, it is just that the GB posters are not used to the PG long threads.
