Nerds and Geeks rollcall!

I was just thinking this morning...where the heck has Rep gone off to? Last thing he posted was that he had the flu...does he still have it? Rep, come back to the geekiness! :p

Hmm.. he has been gone a while hasen't he?? I wish he would come back soon. I miss our playful banter.

Rep, if you're out there get your ass back here :)

Well, it's offical. As many computer geeks as Halifax has, there is not one place around here for a guy to pick up a geek t-shirt or poster or anything. I figure that since almost every household has a computer with high speed internet, that we all must just live on the internet and can do all of our shopping there. I went out all through the city, looking for a geek poster. Just something to break the tiger/jock theme I have going on. Nada. Nothing. It looks like the only way I can get any geek stuff is to Think Geek :(

Vivi is great, but hey, I like Zidane, too. I almost always used Zidane, Vivi, and Garnet...then I would switch between Steiner and Freya, depending on my mood. You meanie...being mean to my Zidaney. :p

I gotta agree with that team; Zidane, Vivi, and Garnet all the way. Summoners rock, though Garnet can never be as cool as Rydia!

*holds up "vote Rydia for God" sign*

Hi... I'm candy and I'm a geek. I love video games, especially RPGs and am addicted to a MUD and a great webcomic at the moment. I'm also heavily into sci-fi and am a fledgling anime freak. I miss my Lego... :(

Hi Candy, welcome to the club. What's your favorite RPG? I always feel so left out, because whenever the other guys talk about them, they're usually discussing older NES and SNES games, and I wasn't a gamer during the reign of those systems. Oh, to be a PS1 child...(even though I was 12 when we got one, hahaha).

Hiya College_geek, thanks for the welcome! A lot of my favorites are on the old systems too, but some of the newer ones I like are Dark Cloud (yah, I know, I'ma big kid), any of the Final Fantasy series, Chrono Cross, Legend of Legaia... actually, I like pretty much any RPG, heh. Do you have any suggestions? I'm always looking for a new game to get hooked on!

If you haven't played Lunar: Silver Star Story (yes, the PS1 version)(and the second one too, for that matter, although I haven't played it yet, I heard that it was good, too), then try to get your hands on it. I just love that story. It makes me laugh, it makes me smile, and in a way it's kind of like FF7 (loosely) in the sense that it can be interpreted as a social-enviromental message. Yes, I like to analyze RPGs too much.

Haven't played any RPGs on PS2, since I don't have one. My dad bought an X-box instead because it had a bunch of games that he wanted to play. I'd get a PS2, but I don't have enough money and I don't need more distraction to pull me away from my school work. :p

Nope, haven't played it, will keep an eye for it now though, thanks! I honestly don't think you're losing out too much on not having a PS2... I have one and it blows monkey chunks... Okay, well not literally, of course. But it doesn't do anything. It won't play DVDs (not that I care too much anymore) and now it won't play any of the newer PS2 games (something I care about probably too much, heh). It barely plays my PS1 games.

I have to say though, I want a Cube. So badly. For all the Mario Parties and Monkey Balls (I'm such a mini-game nut) and for Metroid and and Eternal Darkness and... yeah.

I  video games!

need... caffiene...

Oops... I must be tired, I missed some of the important parts there! Oh no wait, that's right, sorry, I just went off on a tangent ranting about my PS2 again! :p

Any RPG that can make a person laugh and smile is so totally worth playing. I mean, I'll play pretty much anything you set down in front of me, but it's always nice to find a gem. Chrono Trigger is and always will be a gem to me. And FF6. And Earthbound. Now that was a cute game.

You know... I never actually finished FF7. I played the beginning so many times that I got sick of it. Now I'm curious. What message does FF7 convey? Or are you going to be cruel and tell me to play, pass, analyze and find out on my own? ;)

Another person who has played Earthbound o.o will wonders never cease. I'm CG's boyfriend Zergy and a huge RPG fanatic in all forms. Chrono Trigger is definatly my favorite RPG, followed closly by Final Fantasy 4 and six. Good rpg's of all ages are; any of the Ogrebattle series (SNES, PS1, N64), Kartia (PS1), Legend of Dragoon (PS1), Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain (PS1), Soulblazer (SNES), Sailor Moon: Another Dream (SNES), and Lufia 1 & 2. All are quality (though some better then others) and all worth playing. If you need any other recommendations just ask, I am the living database of RPG knowledge ^_^

As for FF7s message... well it's a complicated storyline to explain. Before I start care to explain how much you know already?

BTW if you have aim, icq, msn, or yahoo I'd love to chat with a fellow RPG fan(atic).

Well, I always took the side-story about Shin-Ra and sucking the life energy out of the world as basically another way of talking about how the mega corporations of the world are using up all of the world's natural resources. It's really creepy when they start talking about the planet dying and such.

...And you should still try to play the game. It's really very good.
