Ouch. Three out of four is XBox talk for "Durrrrr I pooped myself." It's pretty much done. If you have a warranty on it, you can get it fixed relatively cheaply (the last time it happened to me, I ended up paying around $50 including paying for good shipping).
Otherwise, I say use this as an excuse to invest in a new XBox 360. The new "Slim" ones are a lot quieter, have better ventillation (big fan on one of the big sides, and vents along either end of the machine). Plus, they have built-in wifi, which can make setting them up for XBox Live or streaming video a lot easier.
(If anyone is curious, a full red ring means "A/V cord is unplugged", as opposed to a 3/4 ring which is a general hardware failure. Or maybe it means "A/V Cord unplugged, and one of the red LED lights is broken")
