It's a fun hobby. It's as expensive as you are willing to let it be. You can get a digital point-and-shoot camera for $100 or less that will take good photos, or you can spend five or six hundred for an SLR camera that will give you more flexibility and control (but at a greater price). Film cameras can be a lot cheaper up front ($100 on eBay can get you an excellent older film SLR), but the cost then depends on how much film you shoot.

I bought a friend of mine an all-plastic Chinese camera called a Holga which cost me $60 for the entire kit brand new including a roll of 120 film for it, 35mm film adapter, and flash. It's supposed to take some interesting pictures due to the simplicity of its design and the slight unpredictability of cheap plastic optics. Depending on his feedback on it, I'm tempted to get one myself, or else maybe invest in a Canon rangefinder camera for my next camera (or, hey, try to pay off my credit cards...)

I actually have a digital camera I bought for 250 but now I'm looking for more High Def, I'm really going to get a camera that is worth probably around 4 to 5 hundred so I star taking some really nice pictures of nature and stuff like that.

Though, webcam prices have been getting more reasonable recently.

Also can buy a used digital SLR and get a wireless remote


But then you'd need a tripod, and an understanding of lighting... *shrug* I like having photography equipment

In that price range, I'd recommend either a Canon Rebel or whatever Nikon DSLR is in that range. The Pentax DSLRs are all very good, and a bit smaller if that's important to you, and I've heard the new Sony DSLRs aren't bad, but for that kind of money, I'd probably stick with a camera made by a camera company rather than a camera made by a CD player company.

I mean, comon, that'd be like buying a phone made by Apple or something!

Everything is going fine with me. Working on my one year with my girlfriend so thats exciting for me! (longest relationship for me ever). Getting ready to graduate with my second degree in May and then moving from Lawrence to the KC area in the pursuit of a job that pays over 24.00 an hour!

Hows Canada? Nikki and I were thinking about taking a vacation up there sometime but have no idea when the best time or places to go is. Any suggestions?
