I dig Neil. I loved the Jon Shannow books. I've also read almost everything by Tad Williams. One of the authors who got me started writing my own stories.
Lately I've got some writers block. Probably stress.

I'm reading War of the Flowers by Tad right now, it's not nearly as interesting as Memory, Sorrow and Thorn, but it's still incredibly well written

I much prefer his books over Tolkien's

Believe it or not I have read a fine romance a time or two. But I've had a lot of time to read...everything. Lack of inspiration deffinetely applies.

Try anything by Robin Hobb. Truly a remarkable writer. She has the ability to create a world as rich and wonderful as any in high fantasy but also as gritty and nasty and complicated as real life. I value that. J. V. Jones is good too.
