For the record, Chronicle Tenko, I don't have expertise at photography I'm a beginner that gets some lucky shots. If I had expertise all my photos would be technically flawless, even if they were devoid of visually intriguing aspects... Definitely no expertise.. heh.. you do not want to see the other 2000 or so pictures I have kicking around. They suck!

Ahh, the time-honored machine-gun school of photography. Take enough pictures, and one of them HAS to be good.

And thanks to the age of digital cameras and 1GB memory cards, it's actually a somewhat economic technique now!

I knew a guy who could make a drink called a Jovian Sunspot. Very nerdy.

And my room mate once figured out how to make something called a Stormtrooper. Ingredients included vodka, coconut rum, and milk. It was... weird.

For the most part though, my favored beverages are a Cuba Libre or some Knob Creek 100-proof Bourbon (sometimes with equal parts water, sometimes not).

I try to look for composition now, and eye-grabbing scenes.. I shoot them from a few different angles still, but not the 20+ I did with digital

Well, I still take way more pictures than I should on 35mm, but then, I mostly shoot black and white and I can process my own film.

One thing I like doing is taking pictures of people with the aperture at a low number so the background is super blurry and they're in clear focus. Works especially well with a crowd behind them. My photography textbook has a cool example of this, with a group of nuns with their leader at the head of the group, and in the picture, she's in focus, then the first row of nuns behind her is out of focus, and all the rest are a blurry mass of people shapes. Makes it very clear who wears the big nun pants around that house

But isn't that... illegal?

You notice how Romulan Ale is apparantly the most winked-at illegal item in all of the Federation? A Starfleet Admiral gets a bottle of it as a birthday present from a friend in San Fransisco (granted, both the admiral and his friend were probably well-connected enough to avoid getting in trouble anyways) and in a later movie, a Starfleet vessel is actually carrying a supply of the stuff in the holds! And nobody asks WHY or HOW this vessel even HAS the stuff!

Oh, and let's not forget them drinking the stuff at Riker's wedding in Star Trek: Nemesis

Yeah, I do that with my flora shots, and portraits when I get around to taking any

I don't shoot black and white, as I mostly shoot nature and I prefer nature in all it's glory. I have to try my hand at some black & white eventually, but in no big rush honestly. I would rather try my hand at IR

And I can process my own film, if I had the equipment.. I'll be picking it up soon enough.. just need a developer tank and the chems.. Eventually a film/slide scanner would be nice to obtain as well.

The Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster was invented by Zaphod Beeblebrox. Its original, fictional, recipe is as follows:

Take the juice from one bottle of that Ol' Janx Spirit.
Pour into it one measure of water from the seas of Santraginus V. (Oh, that Santraginean seawater. Oh, those Santraginean fish!)
Allow three cubes of Arcturan Mega-gin to melt into the mixture (It must be properly iced or the benzene is lost).
Allow four litres of Fallian marsh gas to bubble through it. (In memory of all those happy hikers who have died of pleasure in the Marshes of Fallia.)
Over the back of a silver spoon float a measure of Qualactin Hypermint extract. (Redolent of all the heady odors of the dark Qualactin Zones, subtle sweet and mystic.)
Drop in the tooth of an Algolian Suntiger. (Watch it dissolve, spreading the fires of the Algolian Suns deep into the heart of the drink.)
Sprinkle Zamphuor.
Add an olive.
Drink . . . but . . . very carefully . . .

For those of us who are Earth bound but would like to simulate the PGGB expierence here are a few options, brought to you by Webtender:

Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster

Ingredients:
35 cl Tia maria
35 cl Vodka
17.5 cl Cherry brandy
1 dash Lime juice
1/2 glass 7-Up
1/2 glass dry Cider
About 4 Ice cubes
Mixing instructions:
Take a pintglass (= approx. 0.5 litres) Put the Tia Maria, the vodka and the cherry brandy together. Add a dash of lime juice. Fill the rest of the glass up with (50% - 50%) with dry cider and 7 -up Add ice cubes.

You'll have the taste of an innocent lemonade, but don't try to drink more than two ! This drink was invented on Malta (a little island in the Meditterenian). But it's brought by my sister to the Netherlands and I put it on Internet. Good luck with it and enjoy!



Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster #2

Ingredients:
70 ml Champagne or sparkling wine
20 ml Vodka
10 ml Blue Curacao
1 Sugar cube
1 splash Angostura bitters
1 Cocktail onion
Mixing instructions:
Splash a puddle of Angostura bitters into a saucer and place the sugar cube in it to soak. This will take a minute ot two. Stir the Champagne (or sparkling wine), the Vodka and the Blue Curacao together in a container and put into the fridge to chill. Place the soaked sugar cube in the bottom of the Champagne glass, pour in the mixture and add drop in the cocktail onion, which should be loose, not on a cocktail stick.

It's easier to mix up a lot of these at once and pour them as needed that said however, people rarely drink more than two. -- Strange Fact: The ontion in this cocktail is psychic, concentrate upon the onion and order it to float or sink. The onion does as it's told...



Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster #3

Ingredients:
3 L Mountain Dew or Mello Yello
Cranberry juice
Vodka
Amaretto
Mixing instructions:
Pour all ingredients into a cooler, chill, and serve. As with most punches, it's hard to be specific about the amounts used. A general rule: pour as much of everything as tastes good, then add more vodka! To make life more interesting, throw in pieces of fruit, and add dry ice to the cooler before serving. Small plastic animals also make a nice garnish (but don't drink them)!

Ingredients:
1/2 oz Vodka
1/2 oz Triple sec
1/2 oz Yukon Jack
1/2 oz Peach schnapps
1/2 oz Jack Daniels
1/2 oz Lime juice
1/2 oz Cranberry juice
Fill with 7-Up
Mixing instructions:
Mix ingredients. Can be either: 1. muddled with lime -- 2. served on crushed ice but preferably in hurricane or pint glass with 5-7 regular icecubes (no need to water it down, only to make cold)

This is "the best drink in existence." Drinking one is like having your brains smashed out by a slice of lemon wrapped around a LARGE gold brick. Drink...but...very carefully....

Ingredients:
2 oz Vodka
1 oz Triple sec
1/2 oz Grenadine
Fill with Pineapple juice
Top with 7-Up
Mixing instructions:
Fill Collins glass with ice. Add 2 oz. of vodka and 1 oz. triple sec. Fill glass almost to the top with pineapple juice, add Grenadine for color, and top off the glass with 7-Up or Slice. Shake or stir until the drink turns a light orange-pink color.

Anyone who has read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy can appreciate the name of this drink. Most of my customers have trouble pronouncing it. But you can have a lot of fun forcing people to remember it when they order. This one is very popular with the ladies, as it is VERY easy to drink, and hey, I just like the name of it.

Ingredients:
1 oz Jack Daniels
1/2 oz Peach schnapps
1/2 oz Blue Curacao
Orange juice
Mixing instructions:
Fill the glass, mug or whatever about 3/4 with ice. Then, add the J.D., Schnapps and Curacao. Fill up the rest of the glass with orange juice, and stir.

Drink comes out a lovely blue colour. It gets people drunk very quickly, and has never produced a hangover. This recipe is based on one which came from Zaphod Beeblebrox's, a bar in Ottawa. However, the drink has circulated around Nova Scotia fandom a lot and has probably changed a bit.
