Nerd Hook Up Thread

I started out listening to the audio books of HP and have heard all 7 of them almost daily for 10 years now. Now when I want to read the actual books, I can't because all I can hear is Jim Dale and the awesome job he did narrating the books.

Wave's like "Mayhem" to the ensemble with a gift, and a smile :

T’was the night before Christmas, when all through the Net,
There were hacker's a surfing. Nerds? Yeah, you bet.
The e-mails were stacked by the modem with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

The newbies were nestled all snug by their screens,
While visions of Java danced in their dreams.
My wife on the sofa and me with a snack,
We just settled down at my rig (it's a Mac).

When out in the Web there arose such a clatter,
I jumped to the site to see what was the matter.
To a new page my Mac flew like a flash,
Then made a slight gurgle. It started to crash!!

I gasped at the thought and started to grouse,
Then turned my head sideways and clicked on my mouse.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear?
My Mac jumped to a page that wasn't quite clear.

When the image resolved, so bright and so quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick!
More rapid than mainframes, more graphics they came,
Then Nick glanced toward my screen, my Mac called them by name;

"Now Razer! Now Acer!", my speaker did peal;
"On Apple! On Asus!" Santa started to squeal!
"Jump onto the circuits! And into the chip!
Now speed it up! Speed it up! Make this thing trip!"

The screen gave a flicker, he was into my "Ram",
Then into my room rose a full hologram!
He was dressed in all red, from his head to his shoes,
Which were black (the white socks he really should lose).

He pulled out some discs he had stored in his backpack.
Santa looked like a dude who was rarin' to hack!
His eyes, how they twinkled! His glasses, how techno!
This ain't the same Santa that I used to know!

With a wink of his eye and a nod of his head,
Santa soon let me know I had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, gave my Mac a quick poke,
And accessed my C drive with only a stroke.

He expanded my hard drive , which was now SSD,
Then threw in some cool games, with a simple "Tee,hee"!
He worked without noise, his fingers they flew.
He distorted some pictures in CS6 which he threw in to !

He updated Office, Excel and Quicken,
Then added a screensaver with a red clucking chicken!
My eyes widened a bit, my mouth ajar,
As he merged Google and Bing into just one search bar.

The machine gave a whirl, as if it were pleased,
St. Nick coyly smiled, the computer appeased.
Then placing his finger on the bridge of his nose,
Santa turned into nothing but ones and o's!

He flew back into my screen and through my '45,
Back into the net with barely a clink.
But I heard his sweet voice as he flew from my sight,
"Happy surfing to all, and to all a good yottabyte!"

I never got into audio books... of course, the first ones I tried were Star Wars and the voice artists they hired for them were, well, meh. Other than that, I often read in circumstances that a lot of people wouldn't be able to read in, noisy environments, with music or the TV on, stuff like that, and I read quite quickly, so the only real time I'd actually likely utilize an audio book is in the car... and for that, I'd just rather listen to music I can sing along with.

But, I imagine with the right voice talent reading it, it would be awesome.

I listen to them at bed, I got to a point where music kept me up to much, so I started woth books just for the noise.

Saw The Hobbit last night at a wonderful theater with bar and restraunt service and an over 21policy. I haven't seen a movie with annoying kids and loud babies since that place opened.

So if they are cool that must mean I am cool! Ladies prepare to remove your panties the coolest guy around is now here! :)
Haha only problem is you sound like everybody else in this place ;)

That sounds awesome I want a place like that too. (Though I usually just go in the evening to avoid said things)

We're all nerds here. Most of us are somewhat socially awkward and stand in some weird corner :)

But being felame, it still works for you where as I have to cross my fingers that someone thinks I have a cute butt or something.

Does being "felame" mean I'm a lame female? ;)
I'm not a butt person. A nice chest (on males or females) is prefered.
