Basically all the bad guys in level 1-1 of Super Mario Brothers, plus fish and squid from the underwater plus Mario and Luigi.

sweet! mario 1 has to be one of my favorite games as you said earlier just something you keep coming back to playing it

How are y'all? Missed this thread while being in vegas. Incredible progress on the room, by the way!

Finished reading Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. It was ok, however, I was impressed by the research that had to be done to do something like that book. Could get to be a fun movie if the pacing is done right, let's se how that goes.

Welcome back! *hugs* Saw that you were in Vegas and I'm totally jealous! My fav place to go despite the fact I have relative there, lol.

I definitely want to check out the movie, dunno if I'll get to the book though.

Did SMB2 even have a plot? I mean...the princess was one of the playable characters. Where am I going? Who am I saving?

I barely even remember it, in my mind it's just SMB then SMB3, total gap where SMB2 is concerned.

I liked Super Mario 2, because it was so different and crazy. However, I also know that it is an exact copy of Doki Doki Panic, just with the Mario characters inserted.

This is correct. And Doki Doki had to do with the characters and dreaming or something like that IIRC...

The REAL Mario 2 didn't make it to the US until Mario Allstars, (again, IIRC) and was dubbed "the lost levels." I remember a killer mushroom in the first area, which we never got in SMB!

At one point one of my friends had suggested putting a killer mushroom in my room, but since that wasn't in the first US Mario game we decided against it.

The Mario 2 (Doki doki panic-like) introduced characters I liked, my favorite one (Shyguy) but it was a mess. They never say what's your motivation, you're just tossed into a world with apparently random rules. Then, when you get to a boss, you don't know it's the final one until you hit it enough and... the game is over and everybody wakes up. I was almost as enraged as exhilarated (finishing a game that took you time to figure out always gives you satisfaction, huh?)

The real Mario 2 (lost levels) was EFFING hard. I did play it in the 90s before the SNES because my parents knew nothing of gaming and gave me a "Nintentron" which was a chinese console that had included a game that was labeled "Super Mario Bros" and had the cover of the first one but actually was the Lost Levels. Then they found out that there were no other games out there for the console because it was a strange thing and eventually I got a Nintendo. But Lost Levels / Mario 2 did come with a very enjoyable soundtrack.

mario 2 was probably my least favorite nes game (both the original and the american remake) I actually loved number 3. Number 3 I play for fun, number 1 I play for memories lol
