Nerd Hook Up Thread

I kind of consider myself a nerd...I work in composer theater (theater dork, who writes goofy comedy stuff), i can dork out about music and and sound gear, I am equally obsessed with sci fi books and shows....I am a romantic at heart, and often end up the friend you girls come to more than the lover you lust after (though working on changing all that). I have a modest comic book collection. I do not game. I am into yoga...and I am a very smart artistic guy. Ask me anything about music or piano or theater. But, I am also just as into watching sports...and outdoors. SO hard to say if that makes me a nerd. I have always found ways to fit in socially, but I am a bit socially awkward at times.

and by the way I am into vampires and werewolfs and girlly soft core fantasy porn ..Like Dime Store Magic or teen stuff like City of Bones series.

I honestly think so many of us are nerds or dorks at something. even the most beautiful woman is secretly a dork at heart...maybe she dorks out over books, knitting yarn or scrap booking...or shoes, or football, or quantum physics. Who knows.

but I find that nerds are tons more fun than any "non nerd" ... oh and a long over explicative post MAKES ME A BIT OF A NERD!

See I haven't met a single nerdy girl who loves Twilight... unless it is to mock it relentlessly. There are some men who rave about vampires, but it's less common from what I've seen, mostly as there aren't many female vampires in the culture, biggest I can think of would be Vampirella. Oh and Buffy was the slayer, she slew and slept with vampires.

Dudette! If that's you in your pictures, then whichever nerd you date is uber lucky. How nerdy do you like your nerds? The guy I'm diggin' is about 70% nerd, 30% ... non-nerd.

It depends on the nerd. I'd say my past nerd (which I was with for 11 years) was about 60% nerd and 40% non-nerd. He loved Science and Christmas presents were things like Rubik's cubes, Dwight Shrute bobblehead statues, a microscope, a pretty sweet calculator, and a rad design/graphic art mouse for the one of 4 pc's we owned and subscriptions to PC World.

Those sound like great present ideas. He doesn't exactly sound like the most expensive person to shop for either! I hope all nerds are the same way.

Not to get all nerdy on you, but the sunlight thing was only popularized by Nosferatu, and vampires surely existed before him.

I made this thread for two reasons.

1. For people (nerds and non-nerds) to discover and explore each other. I'm sure the jock-type has always had a secret fantasy about the book-type. Unfortunately, this rings less true for women seeking men, but I think I'm the exception to that rule. This also includes nerd-on-nerd love.

2. I'm currently seeking on my own real-life nerd to love. You might know about it if you've followed my posts. Long story short, I'm the "beauty" and he's the "brains". Of course, I'm not a ditz and he's a not an Urkel, but let's say in my younger years, we wouldn't be in the same social circle. So I'm hoping discussions in this thread will help me become familiar with that "world".

I guess to get this thread rolling, tell me what you're nerdy about. Hmm, in honor of Halloween, I can reveal that I have a thing for the zombie apocalypse. I didn't want to say that I had a thing for zombies because that would make me sound like a necro, which I most definitely am not.

So, what are you into?

I'm a nerd for music and comics. I'm classical trained in operatic arts, so anything that is in that vein, I completely mark out for. I've always been a comics guy, and I have a pretty good collection. My fav is Green Lantern, and yes...I have shirts and rings. Hmmm...thinking about it...I'm a language nerd too...and writing. Oh well.

Well, it doesn't work that way. It's not like you go to a therapist, and he asks you questions about yourself that you already know the answer to. He'd be a lousy therapist!
