People post to express themselves. What they express is typically very revealing in terms of what's on their minds; why they express things in any given manner is fodder for speculation. Of course, in some cases it's just not interesting to ponder because the one doing the expressing so rarely contributes anything meaningful, regardless of if they are replying or starting fresh threads.

why do people try to seek negative attention on here ... is it because its easier and quicker to achieve then positive attention

i wonder if people that post like that are just trying to get as many posts on there threads as they can ... maybe they have low self esteem ?


when i post on here i don't care if i get 0 replies or 1000 and i think lit is more enjoyable with that type of attitude


anyway i don't want this thread to sound like a passive aggressive one so i will say im starting this thread after reading 4laterer's thread

but its not just about her its about all the other trolls or people that try to take shortcuts in getting attention on lit rather then working themselves into the community

Negative attention, positive attention, it doesn't matter to some people, attention is attention.

I'm reminded of one of my students, he doesn't care if i'm yelling at him for what he did wrong or praising him for what he did right. He's got my attention and he wants more so he's gonna do something, anything to get more. I've discovered that neutral attention works best. The only attention he gets from me is the things necessary for him to complete his work. I sound like a broken record at times, but it's working.

Neutral attention here isn't necessary, we don't have to interact with anyone. So the neutral attention equivalent is NO attention.
