When I reformat my computer(how do I do that anyways?), what all do I have to save from the hard drive? I just burned all the extra movies and stuff onto cd's so I won't lose that, but what kind of things do I need, like drivers or something when I reformat?

Is there even a guide to reformating?

Edited to add that I have Win98SE, and a cable modem and am just reisntalling 98 to clear a few bugs and to start fresh.

I use Windows98 and...

I've formatted my hard disk a few times.

The way I do it is to save my important data to CD or whatever go to My Computer on the Desk Top, right click on the hard drive icon and click on Format.

Then to reinstall I load the Windows98 CD-ROM and follow the instructions on screen.

What I make sure before I format is:

a) I have my original CD-ROM available
b) I have the Activitation Code available

and probably most importantly

c) I create a 'Rescue' or'Recovery Disk' so if anything goes wrong you still have the 'Rescue Disk' to fall back on...

Re-installing Windows takes quite a time so have some coffee on the simmer!

Best of luck...

What kinds of things have gone wrong for you or things that you hated about reformating?

Do a search on "wierd harold" and "format". There was a recent thread where I'mVan was asking for details and WH explained the necessary steps rather well.

yep read that thread ... i find though its always easier when you have two hard disks that way you can put all the stuff you need on the other one
