Hey there.
I have a question for anyone who has experience publishing erotica online and/or in print (preferably for pay)

My friend and I are considering getting into the publishing biz with our erotica stories, and I was wondering if you could help guide us in the right direction.

We've been looking here
for sites that will publish, as well as considering going the self-publishing route via amazon kindle or something, and honestly we're more undecided about what to do than before we started, so...

If you've ever gone through the process/published or know someone who has used a legitimate publishing site/business, please respond to this thread or PM me.

Thanks.

Self-publishing is becoming easier and easier. However, the trick is finding an audience, and marketing yourself. I was lucky in that I got in on the ground floor with eXcessica a few years back and put up seven or eight books fairly quickly. I honestly don't know what Selena Kitt's policy is right now with accepting new authors. You might want to check out www.excessica.com for information.

One thing my wife (she is also published with eXcessica under the name Leighann Phoenix) did that helped her was to create a YouTube video that was basically a teaser for her book, and that helped get her a lot of attention. I've considered doing the same, if I get the time. Basically, if you want exposure, you're going to have to market yourself and your books.

Hullo, I wrote up my experiences publishing online here.

Don't do Amazon Select if you publish on Kindle.

It's not that hard to publish, but the promotion is a lot of work. Smashwords have a book they wrote about how best to promote your writing.

Good luck!

I'll second Smashwords. Amazon is evil. With a bit of work you can self-publish and build an audience who'll appreciate and enjoy your work.

All Romance is also a pretty good venue and Barnes and Noble has actually been doing very well. They seem to be picking up a lot of business from Amazon's disgruntled shoppers who can no longer easily find anything, but traditional authors with their "new" search system.
