I wrote a mostly true first time auto-bio. It is fairly long, and I need editing help. I am too close, and I am sure I am too close to it to edit well. Anyone willing to help?

How long is it and what categories could it fit into? I might be able to find some time for it. You can respond either in this thread or by PM.

I google docs it is about 100 pages long. It would fit in first time, erotic couplings, cheating, and a hint at hot girlfriend.

It was a girl that worked at a grocery story with me who was engaged to a cop. There is a bit of violence.

100 pages google docs so, around 50K words. Hmm. That's not a 10 minute project. If you're not in a rush, that could be done over a month or two (sent back in sections as the sections are edited, not as a single piece all at once), or faster if your prose is relatively clean to begin with.

I've just read your 1st published story. Yeah, it needed light editing. I can help you with that.

I suspect some of the posted comments are simply because of the nature of the "Loving Wives" category. There are lots of LW readers--and every one of them hates the characters in the stories, LOL. There's little chance of pleasing that audience.

Some basics: I won't rewrite your story, but I'll try to make useful suggestions. All the final decisions are yours. I'll do my best to fix any mis-spellings, poor grammar, awkward constructions, and address any continuity issues or physical impossibilities I notice. (Recently, I had someone whose characters had to crawl through a narrow tunnel to enter a cave that had no other entrances--but did have a huge flying dragon in the cave who couldn't possibly have gotten inside. The author was pissed when I pointed out she needed the dragon to have a way in and out. We ended up with a large hole in the ceiling for the dragon to fly in and out through. She still hasn't published it and may never finish the tale.)

I do not particularly like google docs and I won't download anything. What I'll suggest is that you copy the entire text and send it in the body of an email. I'll work it as time is available, showing any corrections like this: "Heather runned up the stairs." would come back as "Heather ran up the stairs." If there's a question to ask or a comment I need to make, it will be in blue.

If this is agreeable to you, I'll give you an email address to send it to. If you'd rather go some other direction, know that I wish you well and hope you're successful.
