I know there is a key that you can hit to copy your desktop so you may paste it in another window.
I know how to do that all except what freaking key on the keyboard lets you do this.
Please can someone tell me what key to hit to copy to do this?

Many thanks...

Open a imaging program (paintshop pro, photoshop, etc). Then hit the "print screen" button. Then go back to the imaging program and hit paste.
Should work for ya.

If you press CTRL + Print Screen on your PC, you will place the image of your entire screen in the clipboard. From there it's a simple matter of pasting it wherever you wish.

Many thanks .....That was it. I had a brain fart going...

Just tired it and it worked just fine. Thanks.... I was forgeting to hit the ctrl. button at the same time. I haven't used that feature in years and just forgot.:)

Prtscn on its own will copy the entire desktop.

If you just want to copy a shot of the active window, try alt + printscn

Thank you I'll try that , when I tried ctrl prt scr. I had to clip a ton of stuff off. What your telling me might work better.

Also bear in mind that printscreen creates a bitmap image by default which is going to be large (at 1600x1200 its 5mb in size) if you screenshot the entire desktop and then just paste it straight into a document/email.

If you can, save the image as a jpeg or gif (Windows XP graphics package pbrush.exe will do this, dont think earlier versions do), it will make it much easier to incorporate into documents, send out in mail etc.

I was making cd covers at work I then pasted into PS and cliped them down printed and placed them in a jewel case.

We had a system go down and had to burn off about 70 or so disks and now wanted to lable them.:)

I'm not aloud to play on the net but I sneak a peek once and a while and when it like they question I had they could care less where I find out how to do something....LOl:rolleyes:

when i worked at Earthlink a few years ago in the webhosting dept (which sucks ass), we were required to look at porn sometimes because we hosted a lot of it

cool thing was that we had free access to it, so anyone that had a member site type deal...we could get around it and save whatever we wanted

free porn is always good
