If You have Windows 98 or later, you probbly have MS Photo Editor which can do a decent job of resizing.

This picture needed cropping to get rid of the white border more than it needed resizing though.

Check out iRfanview -- available from several download sites. It's free.

I have a couple of questions about the Avatars. When I first registered, it asked me to choose my Avatar from the list displayed. There weren't any displayed and there wasn't an option of adding my own Avatar.

Do we have an option of choosing an Avatar from a list somewhere? Do you have to wait till you have 100 posts to have an Avatar?

So many questions, so little time!

The vB software this BB runs on allows for a list of standard avatars for new users.

However, the owners of this site have chosen NOT to provide any standard avatars for new users and have set the post level for a custom avatar at 100 posts.

So, the answer is that on some sites that use the same software, there is a list of standard avatars to choose from, but on this site, you have to wait for 100 posts.

Unfortunately - I'm getting an `this is not a JPG file - ' and it won't attach the AV...Just my luck huh - I find the AV I just love - and the bloody thing still won't work!

Are youtrying to link it using the attachment.php link, or did you save it to your harddrive and upload it with the "browse" button?

I just tried to upload it with the browser button - after saving it in the harddrive...I know it's saved as a JPG pic - and it's the right size...no clue as to why I'm still getting the error messages though! I've e-mailed the webmaster - because I can't quote anything either...and I've done the other things you suggested to me a while back (Well - I didn't - a friend helped me out actually!)...so - I'm clueless as to what's going on...does this mean I'm avless forever?

I sized it to 150 Px tall and let Paint Shop Pro determine the width.
