Mrs. 6 is unhappy with her current after-shaving lotion. Can I get some recommendations for a lotion, balm, salve, etc. that will leave her mound smooth and happy? Also, if it isn't available at someplace like Kroger or Walrus-Mart, please include where to get it.

I've frequently used hydrocortisone cream with aloe and other moisturizers to protect against any irritation after shaving. You can buy a couple of big tubes for almost nothing at Costco, but it's available elsewhere as well. A little seems to go a long way, and it works like a charm.

I've also heard King of Shaves makes good products. Go to their website and you'll find a store locator.

On occasion, I've used St. Ives w/Vitamin E, lubriderm, and cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer. They all work great, and cetaphil is unscented, and the cleanser is not oily/greasy. Depending on how sensitive she is, you may want to look into something without alcohol, fragrance, or glycerine, as the first can sting, and the second and third can cause irritation and yeast infections in some people.

My S/O dislikes using moisturizers, because for the most part she feels as if they make her claustrophobic, and she can't stand that feeling. The exception to the rule is “body drench” (http://www.cachebeauty.com/bodydrench.htm) it is a really light moisturizer and is fully absorbed into your skin in 3 or 4 minutes.

You can Google it, and find it in loads of places online. We got a sample bottle in a gift basket of fine products at a ski lodge that we visited. It was so good and she likes it so much, I bought her the gallon from the site I linked to above.

I am not sure about use on her mound, as my S/O doesn't shave that part, but on legs etc it sure makes things smooth and pretty, we live in the dry heat of Utah so you really do need a “good” moisturizer.

There is a product out there called "Coochy Shave Cream" it works amazingly. And there is also Nievia (sp?) lotion... regular, water based, blue bottle, white cream... feels awesome after a good close shave.

One of the most popular healing & protective lotions on the market is Bag Balm. It works great as an after shave lotion.

Bag Balm is an antiseptic and healing balm which was 'originally' made some time during the 1800's for the udders of cows. It is one the most effective treatments available for the relief of minor inflamation of the skin, soothing and repairing dry, chapped, chafed irritated skin as well as minor cuts and abrasions. Bag balm is highly recommended by skin care professionals, such as dermatologists, estheticians, cosmetologists and physicians. It's inexpensive and available at most major retail stores' & pharmacies (Walmart, Walgreen's, etc) cosmetic counters. It is also effective for the treatment of diaper rash, and for most who suffer from psoriasis or eczema.

I like the sensitive skin formula of Skintimate aftershave gel...I notice I have fewer ingrown hairs if I used it right after I shave and for areas prone to bumps: everyday that I don't shave until I shave. Avon also has in their Skin So Soft line an aftershave lotion/gel that seems to work for me pretty well also. Both of these are really light, the Avon one kind of smells like roses, the Sensitive Skintimate has almost no smell.
