Hiya J.R., your posting brought back several memories of dolphin sightings. With one, I was off shore fishing here in southern Florida and suddenly the boat was surrounded by a pod of dolphin that had over 100 members to it. There were young and old around our boat watching us. We reeled all of our lines in because with that many in the water there was no use in trying to catch anything as the dophin had chased everything worth while away.
Also when sailing in and around the Florida Keys, the dolphin often would come up into the bow wake and you would see them gliding along catching wave all the while watching us. Very cool indeed!

I have seen the bow riding phenomena you described.....Dolphins are so interesting.......I have seen them flipping small fish into the air to tease the seagulls, and they love chasing fish just for the joy of it....

this afternoon I was out and about...... so many people out cleaning the gardens and lawns, burning the brush etc.... what a lovely smell!!!! Spring time in New England!!

Yesterday while working in the butterfly garden I heard the sweet rising cadence of a Prairie Warbler, in our budding Oak tree was a beautiful male in his bright Yellow colors.....I love their song.........soft and sweet.

... this morning, while puttering in kitchen, a glance out the windows revealed a small herd of deer, ... healthy full grown deer, wandering thru my yard, ... grazing and inspecting, a passing survey of their territory, ... they quietly moved thru and meandered back into the woods.

such peaceful serene creatures to share these woods with ...

Working in the garden today I saw a male Ruby-throated Hummingbird fly in, he thwarted my garden planning and ignored all the nice red flowers that I had planted for him and and drank from my white CatWhiskers.....go figure, had he stuck around I woulld have put out the hummingbird feeder.....

Hummingbird solution......1part sugar and 4parts water......making it stronger makes it too thick and a sweeter solution can make the Hummingbird sick causing liver damage.

The garden is ready for the butterflies, not much activity as of yet but today had some interesting flybys....
Red Admiral, White Peacock, Gulf Fritillarys, Zebra longwing, Monarch Butterfly, Cloudless Sulfur, Dainty sulfur.

One lone Goldfinch examined my empty feeder in disgust prompting me to go buy some sunflower seed.....<guilty...holding my head down in shame>

Do not hang your head in shame, that will delay you from filling the feeder!!

I saw my first real large crop of daffodils yesterday.....Spring is springing very nicely here!!!! Birds are returning quickly and singing ...... early I may add!!

Butterflies in the garden today.

Zebra Longwings, Giant Swallowtails, Gulf Fritillarys, Great Southern Whites, Dainty Sulphur, Cloudless Sulphur, Cassius Blues, Northern Cloudywing.

The Giant Swallowtails seem so huge, big foppish things, Wonderful!

The evergreens blanketing the mountains, the lush foliage on the hiking trail, the coolness of the shadows, the rippling brook in the small park, the river dissecting the town--One more month and I'm there.
