Someone told me today that she was here to witness my life. I found that simple statement encouraging beyond all other implications.

Then I thought that in a way we here on this board do the same thing...we witness one another's lives. We are here to say "I hear you and see you as you grow." Many here are without tops or bottoms and many are just plain naked in a manner of speaking.

It can be difficult to find those of like mind in everyday life and to those of you who are having difficulty with this or to those who just want someone to know, I witness your life here in these boards. Keep posting.

By sharing ourselves with others we are being witnessed, by reading their missives, we are witnessing them.

Just so long as the cops don't haul us all in to be witnesses, it's all good!

that actually sounds sort of sinister, to me. if someone told me they were here to witness my life, i'd be wondering what kinds of things they'd seen me do, and i'd get extremely paranoid. but then, i'm the kind of person that doesn't want someone else watching over me. i dunno, maybe i'm a freak

To be honest, it sounds a bit weird to me, too. I couldn't quite put my finger on why, but the movie analogy helps.

It's also troublesome because the language reminds me of wording employed by some religious zealots (the ones who have trouble keeping their individual religious interpretations to themselves).

Or perhaps it's creepy because it makes me think of peeping Toms. LOL! Hard to say....

I don't really mind the idea of someone watching over me, but I'm talking about a specific individual here. And I'm not sure BB has the chest hair or domliness for what I have in mind.

Very nice words and thoughts BB .
In my personal opinion we exist (offline, online, in everyday life or on a message board et cetera)like social beings in the measure we are able to transmit our feelings to other people and we are able to understand theirs . And the way we can do it and show it as well , implies the strenght of our presence.
Nothing is static in our perceptions, everything flows fast and changes in our minds, but it's beautiful and refreshing to share a moment in the rush.

It doesnt make me feel creepy nor do I see it as sinister, its just sweet.

Of course if the person saying said it in a sinister 'I'm watching you' way that would be different.

I think it was Xelebes who said he uses here and other forums as a journal.

I did not plan to do that when i got here, but undoubtably its happened to some degree.

We all know a great deal about each other should we choose to dissect and remember (based on the assumption no-one here lies). We all choose to share some aspects and hide others.

I am aware that on here I am open about some very private issues, but other parts of my life I don't make common knowledge, yet they are pretty ordinary.

We support when life goes pear shaped and celebrate when it works out.
We laugh, bitch, moan, complain, call people on their posts or agree with them

We are a community that witnesses each others lives.

Its good to have a place where people accept you for who you are, they may not always like you; but they accept you.
